Soundwave Festival - Cancelled

The 2016 edition of Australia's Soundwave Festival has been canceled a month before it was scheduled to get underway due to "poor ticket sales." The three-day, three-city event was scheduled to take place in Brisbane on January 23rd, Sydney a day later and Melbourne on January 26th. The festival was cancelled amid debts of up to $25 million, leaving suppliers and ticket holders for January's planned three-city event in limbo.

Scott Weiland - Overdosed On Cocaine, Alcohol And Ecstasy

Former Velvet Revolver and Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland was found dead recently on his tour bus and now the official cause of death has finally been revealed. The toxicology reports have shown Scott Weiland died from an overdose of several drugs and alcohol ? and his history of addiction also played a role.

Dream Theater - Announce N. American Shows, To Perform New Album In Full

Dream Theater will also perform their entire new album in North America! The progressive metal giants have announced their first North American tour of 2016, which will see them performing a historic set in immersive and interactive settings for a unique and unparalleled live experience. Set to kick off April 14th at Quebec City's Theatre Du Capitole, the spring trek will see the prog virtuosos delivering a one-of-a-kind show in which they will perform their forthcoming double concept album, The Astonishing, live in its entirety. The tour will continue through May with the band making stops at prestigious theaters throughout North America including New York's Radio City Music Hall, Los Angeles's The Wiltern, and Boston's Orpheum Theatre, with additional dates to be announced.

Mors Principium Est - Guitarist Kevin Verlay Leaves

Guitarist Kevin Verlay is no longer in Mors Principium Est. The Finns announced that he left for personal reasons. His stint in the group was short. Verlay toured with the band in 2013 and joined officially in 2014. He now departs and Mors Principium Est say that they will look for a new guitarist in due time. Meanwhile, they will focus on the songwriting process for their next album.

Vardis - Bassist Dies

British NWOBHM act Vardis have lost their long time bassist Terry Horbury. Terry Horbury passed away peacefully in Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, aged 65, after a short battle with cancer. R.I.P.

Melechesh - Frontman Ashmedi Arrested For Assault

It seems like Melechesh's frontman Ashmedi got into some trouble recently and was involved in a bar fight. He was arrested for assault. Luckily for the black metallers' fans in Jerusalem, Israel, he will be able to play their show today despite being on house arrest. Ashmedi has now commented on the arrest charges.

Poison - Drummer Has Oral Cancer

Poison drummer Rikki Rockett revealed during an appearance on the Eddie Trunk Live radio show that he's completed nine rounds of chemotherapy and seven weeks of radiation treatments after being diagnosed with oral cancer this past summer and that he'll find out in February if the treatments were successful. Best wishes to him and hopefully he can recover fully.

Abbath - Live Guitarist Quits

After the split with Immortal, frontman Olve Eikemo (Abbath) formed Abbath but is already facing another line-up change. Following the recent departure of drummer Kevin Foley (Creature), now it's live guitarist Per Frank Valla who jumps ship. Both cited personal reasons to leave the band while Abbath hasn't addressed any of this so far.

Evenmore - Debut Album Announced, Special Guests

Swiss Celtic folk metal act Evenmore has announced that they will release an album in 2016. The record, their debut, will feature many guest musicians as Anna Murphy (Eluveitie) and vocalist Henning Basse (Brainstorm, Metalium, Firewind). The album will be recorded at Soudfarm Studio by Anna Murphy and Marco Jencarelli.

Paragon - New Album On The Way

There are plenty of German bands producing good quality power metal and Paragon is another example of that. They have now returned to release a new album. Three years after their latest, the group is releasing Hell Beyond Hell and is currently working on layouts for CD, LP and merch. Sören Teckenburg's drums were recorded by Schrödey at his "Absurd Studio" and most other stuff was recorded and also mixed by Piet Sielck at his Powerhouse in Hamburg.
