Deicide - Album Was NOT 'Banned' Due To Content
Ginza.se, one of Sweden's largest online music stores, has dismissed as "completely wrong" a press release issued by Earache Records claiming that "Ginza.se has barred the sale of Deicide's latest album, 'The Stench of Redemption', citing the blasphemous CD sleeve art, controversial lyrical subject matter and the fact that Deicide mainman Glen Benton has an upside-down cross branded into the center of his forehead as their reasoning."
In an e-mail sent to blabbermouth.net earlier today, Nisse Jonson, Ginza.se's Purchase Manager, stated, "This is completely wrong. We don't have any problems regarding Deicide more than that their last productions didn't sell very well in our webshop. Therefore we didn't purchase it in the first place."

Blut Aus Nord - New Album Details
Candlelight Records today confirms October 3 as the US release date of MoRT, the eagerly anticipated new album from French extremists Blut Aus Nord. The album adds to the band's trilogy of albums and growing stateside sales and fanbase.
With MoRT, Blut Aus Nord have crafted an album that is complex, haunting and sure to draw the band continued fan and media applause. A singular composition consisting of eight united chapters, MoRT contains the gruesome soundtrack that has quickly become the trios acclaimed hallmark. Nearly two years in the making, the album incorporates uniquely innovative guitar play (layering similar to early Emperor), a corrosive rhythm section and bitter vocals. Kerrang says it best when calling the bands music, "the sound of underground metal's black heart, twisted beyond all recognition."

Dark Funeral - Costa Rica Show Cancelled
Lord Ahriman posted the following on the bands official site:
"It just came to our attention that our scheduled show in Costa Rica on October the 3rd is cancelled. Apparently this is a result by the local promotor's refusal to share our flight costs with the other promoters, which is total bollocks if you ask me. We were totally looking forward to play Costa Rica during this forth coming Latin American tour, but unfortunately it won't happen. We understand that this cancellation will leave A LOT of you people very disappointed. And trust me, we all wish there were something we could do to change the situation, but we can't. We do however hope that there will be another chance for us to play Costa Rica in a not too distant future."

Deicide - Album Banned By Swedish Online CD Store
According to Earache Records, one of Sweden's largest online music stores, Ginza.se, has barred the sale of Deicide's latest album, "The Stench of Redemption", citing the blasphemous CD sleeve art, controversial lyrical subject matter and the fact that Deicide mainman Glen Benton has an upside-down cross branded into the center of his forehead as their reasoning. This action follows quickly on from the news that U.K. TV channel Scuzz TV have also refused to play the video for Deicide's "Homage For Satan" due to its ? in their view ? offensive content.

Slayer - Cancel Appearence On Monterrey Metal Fest; Festival Pushed Back To November
Los Angeles thrashers Slayer have cancelled their previously announced appearance at the third edition of the Monterrey Metal Fest, previously set to take place Saturday, September 23, 2006 at the Coca Cola Auditorium in the city of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Slayer, who were scheduled to headline the event, cited "personal reasons" as the cause of the cancellation.
As a reaction the festival was set back, most likely until November. A new headliner and the exact date will be announced soon.
This year's Monterrey Metal Fest is being billed as "Hell and Heaven United" due to the fact that the festival will include appearances by reunited Christian hard rockers Stryper and Satanic death metallers Deicide. The concert, which promises to be the "biggest and baddest version yet", will feature eight of the biggest names in heavy metal music from all over the world on the main stage and 12 up-and-coming international and Mexican bands on the second stage.

Helloween - Films 'Light The Universe' Video
Helloween have spent a long day at the castle Veldenstein in the southern part of Germany recently. The castle was the fascinating location for the shoot of the video for the upcoming single "Light The Universe" - the first ever duet in the band's history - with renowned director Alex Diezinger (Negative, L'Ame Immortelle, Exilia) of AVA Studios. Joining the band on the castle like in the recording studio was Blackmore's Night beautiful singer Candice Night.
The "Light The Universe"-single will be released in the beginning of November. The release should coincide with a big TV and radio campaign. The single itself should contain the video as a bonus, a live rendition of the classic "If I Could Fly" and one more interesting bonus track.

Destruction - U.K. Tour Postponed
Due difficulties with some venues, the UK tour in September has to be postponed. The band is real sad about that decision and will work on new dates ASAP. Here is the statement of the britsh promoter Pan Satyrcos:
"Some of the venues (those run by the Academy Music Group) bought the financial terms of the shows into dispute at the last second. In order to protect the financial interest of the band and avoid a loss that would have been the logical consequence of these lowered fees, we felt it best to cancel this tour in September. A lot of work and planning had gone into this, and we are very sorry and apologise to all who bought their tickets in advance, and those coming down on the day."
Hopefully, these shows will be rescheduled for early 2007 at different locations.

Dissection Frontman Shot Himself In Head As Part Of Ritual Suicide
Swedish heavy metal musician Jon Nödtveidt, 31, was found dead on Wednesday, August 16 at his apartment in Hässelby, a suburb of Stockholm. He shot himself in the head and was surrounded by lit candles, Expressen reports. Shortly before the ritual suicide, he had sent farewell letters to his father and his girlfriend and explained to a friend, "I'm going away for a long, long time. I'm going to Transylvania."
Sometime between Monday (Aug. 14) and Wednesday, Nödveidt, vocalist and guitarist in the popular Swedish black metal band Dissection, chose to take his own life.
At 7:21 p.m. CET on Wednesday, a police patrol reported to the police communication center in Stockholm that a man had been found dead, the apparent victim of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. According to several of Expressen's sources, the singer had placed an open copy of "The Satanic Bible" in front of him before pulling the trigger.
"He shot himself in the head and lay dead in a ring of lit candles," says a police source.
At 5:44 p.m. on Wednesday, the police received a 911 call from Jon Nödtveidt's family who hadn't been able to establish contact with him for a couple of days.
"They were very concerned," says his legal representative and manager, Per Nordqvist. "His girlfriend and his family called after their fears that something terrible had happened had been bolstered."
The reason for their concern was a farewell letter that Jon Nödveidt had sent to his girlfriend in Germany. His father, Anders Nödtveidt, had also received a postcard asking him to contact a number of people and thank them for everything.
"What it said is personal. I want to keep it to myself," Jon's father says of the postcard's contents.
"I met him in Stockholm just a week and a half ago. Everything seemed great then. I've always had good contact with Jon during his upbringing and throughout his adult life. I don't understand what has happened to make things turn out this way. This weighs even more heavily on us considering everything that has happened. This is very difficult for the entire family."
Jon Nödveidt's father likes the photo in which his son wears a black leather jacket and has asked for that picture to be published.
"It's a good photo. Jon thought so as well," says Anders Nödtveidt.
The suicide is believed to have been planned for a long time.

The record - the band's seventh - sticks to Incantation's tried and true recipe for brutal death metal, complemented with more leads and a crushing production.
"We feel very strong about the new material," said guitar/vocalist/founding member John McEntee. "We never seem to run out of unholy dark metal movements."
