Emeth - Another New Song Online

You can check out and download a new song from Belgium's Emeth entitled "Anochi Kofer" online over at their official MySpace page. The track comes off the band's new album "Telesis" which has been released today (7 March).

The most notorious pack of degenerates from Belgium Emeth, which features in its ranks ex-Aborted guitarist Matty Dupont and Blood Red Throne bassist Erlend Caspersen, has set "Telesis" as the title of its highly anticipated third album, due early 2008 via Brutal Bands. The band recently finished recording their new album at Hertz Studios with the Wieslawscy brother's as producers and is currently mixing eleven tracks for this new effort. It features the following track listing:

01. Silence Goes Unheard
02. Anochi Kofer Listen/Download]
03. Telesis Listen/Download]
04. SoulStorming Echoes
05. Folly and Weakness
06. Monolith
07. Existence Beyond Being
08. The Doer Alone Learneth
09. Aquarian
10. Will To Power
11. Aum

Emeth is know as a band which has its roots in death metal, but at the same time, as one that has never been afraid to experiment. This third opus shows the band progressing into a heavier, tighter and more technically advanced direction with memorable and inventive song structures and a natural yet modern production.

A video for the song "Telesis" can also be found at the band's MySpace page. The video was directed by Maurice Swinkels & Low Life Media (Aborted, Immolation,?)

For those who aren't familiar with him yet, Raphaël is the drummer of the french symphonic metal band Penumbra. Exumer - Reunion Planned For 2009

Members of '80s German Thrash band Exumer began negotiating a full fledged reunion for 2009. The projected reunion includes a new album, re-releases of the band's two albums from the 1980s and a substantial tour.

Vocalist Mem V. Stein of NYC Thrashers Sun Descends comments:

"This reunion won't be like the one-off show we played at the Wacken Open Air, in 2001. This time we will deliver the entire package and release a new, third Exumer album. It's been close to 22 years since the second Exumer release in 1987 and it seems that the band is still relevant, especially when you consider the new generation of thrash metal bands that quote Exumer as a major influence of theirs. I will keep SD alive and I'm not abandoning the project but most of 2009 will be dedicated to a new Exumer album and it's promotion. We also have Paul Arakaki (guitars/bass) in the band who replaced me on the second Exumer album and now lives in Hawaii. I frequently get emails from fans asking for a Exumer reunion and I feel that the time is right to finally go ahead and make it a reality. We have never played live in North America and I believe that we owe it to the fans here in the States to see the band at least once with full-on live production"

Exumer has not yet decided with which record label to work with for the releases, but plans to enter the studio to record their new CD in late 2008/early 2009.

Rudra - Working On New Album

Singapore's Rudra have issued the following update:

"Rudra has finally completed the pre-production of their yet to be titled album which will be the 2nd instalment to the Brahmavidya trilogy. The songs have so much of Brahmavidya: Primordial I & Kurukshetra in them. Shiva is still relentlessly pounding his drums as hell and Devan has contributed nasty vedic metal riffs into this one which will sure make all you faithful ones drool. Rudra will not be playing any shows till the album is completed. The band will be taking a short break after the recording which will commence next month. Soon after the break, Rudra are planning to complete songs for the 3rd instalment of the Brahmavidya trilogy, which will be a more east-meets-west fusion like vedic metal/rock. Look out for more updates!"

Deicide - Number One Torture Hit In Iraq

The following not everyday blog was posted on Deicide's MySpace page:

"Deicide Music used by US Military to Torture prisoners in Iraq! -- Deicide scores a 1 hit with US Troops!

Gathered from evidence obtained through various reports, leaked interrogation logs and the accounts of soldiers and detainees, a list of the top 24 songs strategically used on military prisoners in Iraq was recently made public, according to Mother Jones Magazine's website. Mother Jones is an independent, left wing, nonprofit magazine rooted in progressive political values and known for its investigative reporting]

Among a list of such musical luminaries as Eminem, Metallica and AC/DC (as well as non-luminary Barney The Dinosaur), was Deicide, coming in at number one with the song "Fuck Your God" from 2004's "Scars Of The Crucifix".

When word of this info first got to Deicide drummer, Steve Asheim, the only thing he could really say was "It's cool. If we're upto military standards of audio abuse, it makes me feel like Deicide's doing our part for the troops." Of course this moment is not the only history that Asheim has with the armed forces. "My dad was a marine, as were my uncle and grandfather;" says the Deicide skinsman. "I didn't follow in their footsteps since I was so busy with the band thing, but I'm glad I was eventually able to contribute somehow."

Some of the tactical circumstances where prisoners may have heard "Fuck Your God" include sleep deprivation and interrogation disorientation. While some may see this information as a shock, other readers of the source article have taken a slightly different view of the situation. Commented one reader of the source article, "Honestly, the barney theme song is more disturbing than Deicide's "Fuck Your God"."

For more info, including the entire list of songs, go to HERE."

Evergrey - New Album Update

Singer/guitarist Tom S. Englund has posted the following news on the official Evergrey MySpace:

"After a couple of turbulent weeks we have now finally mastered our album. When we listened to the finished product for the first time we all agreed that we were beyond satisfied with the result and can't wait for you to hear it! We have also decided to post video teasers for you to enjoy, there will be a new "trailer" every month up until we release the damn thing and oh, the title for it is "TORN"!

Complete tracklisting will be presented here as soon as we have decided what songs will end up on special editions and/or bonus tracks for singles etc. Other than that I am glad to read that all of you seem to love our new Evergrey "EY" logo. It will look pretty cool on a shirt that's for sure.

Tomorrow we play a show in Mariestad with our friends from All Ends so those of you who have the chance please stop by. Summer festivals and tours for the fall are being booked as I write so be sure to check this area for all official confirmations. We will start rehearsing songs from "Torn" next week so MAYBE, and I mean maybe, we will play some of them in Finland in two weeks. Playing Finland is always a blast and it's nice to be with people that can keep up with us on the booze. Both me and Jari have lot's of relatives and friends coming out to the shows so that should be fun. Tampere on the 19th and Helsinki on the 20th be sure to join in if you have the chance.

So enjoy the music combined with the fantastic photos courtesy of our friend René Asmussen (http://www.reneasmussen.com) - an award-winning Danish photgrapher who have graced us with his work which will be used in the booklet for "Torn". That alone will be worth the money. Please let us know your feelings, ideas expectations after hearing what you now will hear."

Darkthrone - Update From The Band

Frontman Nocturno Culto of Norwegian Black metallers Darkthrone has issued the following update:

"Darkthrone has completed four new songs for the new album, and will record a couple of new ones in a couple of weeks. Ah, and I have to tell you about the new box set from Darkthrone, "Frostland Tapes". It really came along better than I hoped, it's nice actually. Three discs, containing all demos, including "Land Of Frost" of course. Rare original rehearsal tape, "Goatlord", plus live from Denmark, drum solo by Fenriz (!) and so on. We can now, simultaneously grabbing our balls, say that after this box, we have no more 'rare' stuff to offer. "Frostland Tapes" is all of our early history. It's the right timing for it as well actually, since some clever fella has started Gylve Records to release a demo, to put it mildly, the man himself is not very pleased of this shit."

Rage - Two Videos Online

A few days ago German Metal band Rage have added the newest video clips "Lord Of The Flies" and "Open My Grave" to the Media Section on their official website.

Lord Of The Flies - Videoclip (5:47min - 59 MB) -- YouTube]
Open My Grave - Videoclip (4:42min - 48 MB) -- YouTube]

Shortly before Christmas, Rage have shot two videoclips for their new album, featuring the songs "Lord Of The flies" and "Open My grave". While "Lord Of The flies" is a dark and occult clip with a lot of actors and guests (like singer Jen Majura), "Open My Grave" presents more the musicians of the band on their instruments. The location was a very old basement-cavity from the beginning of the 18th century, which is located under a whorehouse! You can imagine, that the boys had a couple of guests while their stay. The clips were produced by Katja Piolka, who had Rage infront of her lences already before.

The band's latest album "Carved In Stone" was released via Nuclear Blast Europe on February 22nd.

Autumn - New Vocalist Found

Metal Blade Records have announced that Marjan Welman Picture] is the new singer of Autumn. She replaces Nienke de Jong, who recently announced her departure from the band.

Within the Dutch rock scene Marjan is considered to be a promising talent with her warm voice and perfect timing. Her recent vocal contribution on the Ayreon album "01011001" received outstanding reviews and shows a singer who stands her ground between a selection of highly acclaimed international vocalists.

Marjan will make her stage debut with Autumn at a number of major summer festivals such as Wacken Open Air, Metal Gothic Palace and Summer Breeze. She will be fully involved in the writing process of the follow up record to "My New Time". Marjan will also keep performing with Dutch band Elister.

The band comments the beginning of a new chapter as follows: "We are very proud to welcome Marjan as the new singer of Autumn! As it wasn't easy to fill the gap Nienke left behind, we took our time to find the best possible replacement. Marjan quickly became one of our favourites. She stole our hearts during the first audition with her enthusiasm and powerful rendition of Autumn songs. After auditioning some other remarkable singers, it became clear Marjan had all the qualities we were looking for. She is one of the best-kept secrets in the Dutch music scene and we are delighted to write the next chapter for the big Autumn book with her."

Marjan comments her engagement in Autumn as follows: "A little while ago, Jens contacted me and asked if I might be interested in auditioning for Autumn. I was shocked. "Who, me?" I felt honoured that they would consider me a candidate. He sent me "My New Time" from which I already heard a few songs through myspace. After listening to the entire album once, I realized I wanted to take the amazing opportunity that was right in front of me. On the day of the audition, car trouble threatened to spoil the party. Luckily, we managed to get the audition started without too much delay. After singing away the remaining nerves I also got the chance to enjoy it all. I was struck by the relaxed atmosphere! On my way back I could only hope that they would pick me, and so they did... To also become a part of Autumn in addition to Elister feels wonderful and I hope that we'll do great things!"
