Destruction - Latin American Tour Postponed To August

Destruction are forced to postpone their previously announced South American tour dates to August.

Destruction's manager, Jeff Keller, has issued the following statement regarding the forthcoming South American tour: "Due to circumstances beyond our control, Destruction is postponing this month's scheduled South American dates. Unfortunately there were multiple issues, most notably regarding travel logistics, that have forced us to reschedule these dates. All six of the previously scheduled dates will now be moved to the month of August. Our apologies to our South American fans who had planned to attend the shows this month. The band is looking forward to August, and we are very pleased that all six shows were able to be successfully moved."

Destruction singer Schmier just gave us the following quote: "I am really bummed out about that bureaucratic bullshit, while I'm sitting here on my luggage, ready to take off! At least all shows will still happen though and are just moved back a bit to August! Sorry folks but nobody is more disappointed than myself, Latin America became my second home in the last years, the passion for Metal there is the real deal!"

Here is the complete list of rescheduled dates:

Aug. 19 - Guatemala - Guatemala City - Akellare 4 Grados Norte
Aug. 21 - Bolivia - La Paz - Coliseo Don Bosco
Aug. 25 - Chile - Santiago De Chile - Club 334
Aug. 26 - Brazil - Curitiba - John Bull Music Hall
Aug. 27 - Brazil - São Paulo - Carioca Club
Aug. 28 - Argentina - Buenos Aires - El Teatro Colegiales

Edguy - Working On New Album

Edguy are in the studio recording a new album.

The band has released the following update: "After a successful world tour with more than 100 concerts all over the globe in support of their latest release Tinnitus Sanctus in 2008, Edguy have entered the studio to record a new album.

Still under the influence of their arena tour as special guests of Scorpions and the latest Avantasia world tour (featuring Tobias Sammet and Felix Bohnke), Edguy feel it's about time to squeeze their energy on tape in a recording studio again. This time the band has chosen the famous Peppermint-Park in Hannover (Scorpions, Phil Collins), according to the band " a recording temple with a tremendously great sounding room".

Frontman Tobias Sammet comments: "We have chosen the Peppermint Park to record the basics there. I had done a few little bits and pieces for Avantasia there, but it's so great to record drums and stuff like Hammond B3 with a big bad fat mean Leslie there. The room is big and the sound is mean! We were always striving for a powerful but natural sound. I guess we had a good sound recently, but I think there is always room to improve. The more I listen to what's going on in the Heavy Metal world these days, the more I long for drums that sound like drums. I want them to sound powerful without sounding like Atari.

Sascha and I came to the conclusion that we have to start from scratch and do things the way they have to be done, not the fashionable way. I don't want a distorted master-copy, just so it is loud enough on an iPhone or on PC-speakers. If you talk to your most fancy producer he will say something like: "Well, it's the sign of the times, you have to be able to compete in the loudness war..." What the fuck?! If I want it to be loud I turn up the stereo. I want dynamics, room, a real big sound, not that distorted trendy compression. Why don't we all move back a little and record great sounding music, not loud sounding music? Do a Google search for "loudness war" and you'll see what I mean.

Whatever, the new songs sound great, we have thirteen of them, and we'll pick maybe ten and put them on the album. We have anthemic melodies, although it's not kitsch. When you record anthemic music, you tend to be dangerously close to kitsch, it's a fine line and I think we balance on that fine line pretty well. To cut a long story a little insignificantly shorter: I just think it is great, and that's what counts. Real music, you know? We'll keep you informed, if you want it or not!"

Mourning Caress - Announce New Guitarist, Album Title

German melodic death metal band Mourning Caress has issued the following statement:

"We finally found a new guitarist and can officially call ourselves a five-piece again. The new guy is called Wolfgang "Sandman" Sander, a skilled guitar player and insane metalhead. He joined the band directly after the recordings of the new album were completed. So you naturally can´t hear him on the new output. In the meantime he got introduced to our friends and families on a very intimate and private gig we played in our rehearsal room some weeks ago. It was a blast! Please check our new facebook site for some pictures of the event.

We're also happy to unveil the title of our third album: Deep Wounds. Bright Scars.. As mentioned above the recordings are done and we are now facing the mixing stage, the mastering is due in April or May. Once this all is finished we need to find a suitable label to release Deep Wounds. Bright Scars.. The result is sure enough a heavy and very intensive yet melancholic piece of metal which makes us proud to the bone. We can´t wait to share the first songs with you, it´s only a matter of time..."

Former Mourning Caress guitarist Benedikt Bjarnason, who left the band in 2009, lost his battle with cancer in late December last year.

Blaze Bayley - Parts Ways With His Band (UPDATED)

Original news, published on 30.03.2011

British heavy metal vocalist Blaze Bayley has issued the following message:

"Due to financial and medical reasons I've been forced to part ways with the band. I will give a full statement in the next few days about my future plans. I hope that all my fans will keep on supporting me in my further projects. The English dates will be postponed to December but the festivals in Germany, Sweden, Lithuania and the show in Istanbul will definitely proceed!"

UPDATE

Blaze Bayley has released the following lengthy statement explaining his decision of going solo:

"First of all thanks again for all the wonderful messages of support I have received in the last few days. The mental, financial and emotional strain of keeping the Blaze Bayley Band together has proven to be too much for me and has taken a terrible toll on my mental health. As a result of that, I have had to split with the Blaze Bayley Band, now I am just Blaze Bayley, a soloartist and also the lead singer of Wolfsbane. Since Anna and Larry left the Blaze Bayley Band, we've tried to do everything ourselves and for me it has been too much. Without a proper manager coordinating concerts, touring, festivals, promotion, record releases and all the finances, it's too much to cope with.

Now I've finally taken this incredibly difficult decision, I feel I can breathe again. It has been an upsetting, frustrating and sad time because the Blaze Bayley Band will not be going on any more, but it is also for me a huge relief and a time to look forward. I wish David, Nico and Jay every succes with their future projects and like to thank them for their loyalty, commitment and sharing their musical talent on The Man Who Would Not Die and Promise and Terror. They are arguably two of the best metal albums I have ever made. We have made a live album and a DVD and I am immensly proud of all of those things as well as the incredible concerts we have played to fans all over the world.

I apologize to my UK fans for postponing the upcoming tour. We are still in the process of rearranging all the dates that we can to happen in December. The shows I have booked with Wolfsbane will all go ahead. Also, all the festivals I have booked will go ahead with different musicians.

I have a lot of plans that I am very excited about for the future and on top of that I am expecting my first child to be born in September.
Look out for me popping up in different places all over Europe in the summer, because I am still available and being booked for festivals and guest appearances. The first two weeks of September is my unplugged acoustic UK tour with Jase Edwards from Wolfsbane, called the Blaze and Jase: The Incredible Tour. The full dates will be announced in the next few weeks. After that there will be a week of European full metal shows.

Aborted - Enter The Studio In June

Belgian death metal veterans Aborted will begin recording their seventh full-length record to date from June onwards at the infamous Hansen Studios with producer Jacob Hansen (Invocator, Hatesphere, Volbeat).

The band will be tracking over 15 tracks of the most brutal and intense material they have written to date. The sonic onslaught - baptized as Global Flatline - will contain 12 tracks with additional bonus material featured on limited editions.

The artwork for Global Flatline will once again be handled by Justin Osbourne who previously worked with the band on its 2010 EP Coronary Reconstruction as well. Since 2011 marks the ten year anniversary of Aborted's Engineering The Dead record, the band decided to re-record two tracks of the album as part of the bonus material for Global Flatline. You can vote for your favorite Engineering the Dead songs on the band's Facebook Page.

Vocalist, founder and gurgloroth Sven de Caluwé comments: "We are thrilled to be finally recording Global Flatline and have the material out there. It is exciting in many ways, one being that this might be one of the most important records Aborted's career. We really took our time in composing the most heavy and uncompromising material the band has written to date. Some of the material is faster than ever, some of the material is slower than ever, some old school and some new school, inspired by all eras of Aborted, yet still sounding unique on its own.
Writing this record definitely took us back to the roots of why we started playing this kind of music in the first place, the passion and adrenaline you get from playing extreme metal.

Obviously it just isn't a carbon copy of Goremageddon or Engineering The Dead or anything: there are plenty of new elements as well since we never believe in writing the same record. Those who checked out Coronary Reconstruction have had a small taste of what's to come and we can guarantee you you won't be disappointed with Global Flatline! We are also very excited to be working again with Jacob Hansen, the man produced Goremageddon and The Haematobic EP and it was always a pleasure to work with him then, so this should be a blast."

The Gates Of Slumber - New Album Details, New Song Online

The Wretch, the new album from US doom metal band The Gates Of Slumber, will be released on May 10th through Rise Above Records/Metal Blade.

One of the new songs on the album, called "Coven of Cain", has been made available for streaming exclusively at Decibel Magazine.

Recorded during the cold British winter of 2010 at London's Orgone Studios and produced by Jaime Gomez Arellano (Ghost, Angel Witch), The Wretch sees The Gates Of Slumber pushing its trademark blend of skull-crushing riffs and pounding rhythms to new heights and marks a return to the slower all-out doom tempos of the group's early albums combined with "true doom metal" lyrical themes.

Commented frontman and founding member Karl Simon: "This record is frustration and disappointment put to music. No heroics this time, no swords; no sorcery. No fantasy. That stuff is OK; it's fun... whatever, but we don't feel it these days. This one is all about others let you down almost as much as you let yourself down. It might not make sense to you, but then you probably only have the last two records as a digital download. That, or your world is summed up by someone else's soundbite."

The Wretch tracklist:

01. Bastards Born
02. The Scovrge Ov Drvnkenness
03. To The Rack With Them
04. Day of Farewell
05. Castle of the Devil
06. Coven of Cain
07. The Wretch
08. Iron and Fire
