Totally agreed. And albums like this shouldn't be played with the shuffle mode on. The flow of the album (the radio station) is an experience in itself.

True that ... like most of my favorites it has to be heard front to back....

And that's the EXACT reason I prefer vinyl. Then you are forced, more or less, to listen to an album front to back.
But then again I am an old fart

I pretty much enjoy 90% of anything that Josh Homme does, and this is one of his better albums, on the level of Kyuss at least. And in relation to listening to albums front-to-back, I am not a vinyl collector (although I will be when I get done with university hopefully), but I can't stand to shuffle music very often, unless I'm in the car. Every album has to be listened to in the whole, and this is a good example of one such album.

As for vinyl when cds came into vogue I of course went for cds thinking they would be superior, and still for some music they are. But since getting back into vinyl a couple of years ago, just before the big vinyl boom which is still gathering speed, I noticed that vinyl FORCES you to take time to listen to the music as the artist has attended it to be (or at least for the albums that are also released on vinyl) You really have to sit down, get the vinyl out of the cover, put it on the record player, put the needle down, sit down and enjoy and after about 20-25 minutes get up to change sides. The entire process making it less of a mass consumption article than cds and especially downloads. Downloads are hell easy when you're hosting a party where you want loose songs to be played though. Records and 10"s and 7"s are a pain in the ass when it comes to hosting parties with music

Yeah i only have one actual vinyl record left now ... had a bunch of kiss albums that got melted on a friends stereo ... and now only own one unopened Butthole Surfers album lol

My mother owns all the beatles albums so when she lets me have em i will invest in a record player ... for sure

Your first concert was in 1984, you mean to see that beside the Kiss albums and that other one you never bought any vinyl back in the day
Or did you do away with all of them when cd's hit, I did away with loads back than and am now regretting it.

No they got ruined too and i just never reinvested .... plus having kids they would destroy my albums ... i actually got rid of about 200 cds to be quite frank lol ... but still have about 200 tapes ... great for winter they play in any weather

Tape decay withstanding .... no real record stores around here either to be quite honest or cd stores for that matter ... gotta hit Amazon or Ebay .... it may be true that downloading is killing music stores

Depends on what youre looking for. Displeased Records ahs loads of all sorts of metal but isn't cheap.

Zappa fan perchance ....

Am I missing something here? The album starts out pretty nice with "Millionaire" and mixes things up with "No One Knows" right afterwards, but the album just feels repetitive. To be honest the driving rhythm do keep me energized for about 8 songs, then it just loses momentum. Whats worse whenever they try to do melody, its just meanders at times. I know this won a grammy and all (not that that has mattered in......forever) but the album imo seems to suffer from trying to stay accessibly and safe for a mass-audience.

What a great album, Cant really say much more. One of the few modern rock bands that I enjoy.

This is actually a pretty varied album for a band like QOTSA, what with the very ambient 'Mosquito song' and the radio station speech running throughout, but the band still had a hell of a lot of good riffs here.

To me that's the worst aspect of this album and why I find it inferior to the previous two. They're fun for one or two listens then they just get in the way of the flow of the music and become irritating. Also, what the hell is a "snipbit?" you mean snippet surely

Might have been thinking of "tid-bit" at the same time. Personally, I like the bits I can remember - "blood drive", "oh, shit", "Hallelujah", "the WOMB..." "the KRDL" it's all so smashing. As you... folk probably don't say anymore?

Fav tracks 2-5, 8, 11, 13... and the rest

edit purely as an aside/afterthought - considering both the little in-between bits and the album (+ songs) as a whole(s), I'd certainly rather hear what Deaf's got to say over Tool's Lateralus. By a margin... tho both title-tracks own hard

I like the "snipbits" as Marcel called them. Stupid reference but it always reminds me of GTA radios.

Too bad I discovered this album at 18. Listen to it now, if you like stoner rock.

Heard this album was good, well I have to disagree on that. It's good for two songs maybe three if you're generous. *Disappointed*.

One of the few albuns that needs one a dem "20th anniversary tours" with all the guest musicians and stuff.
