Ancient Bards - Reveal New Album Cover Artwork
The upcoming Ancient Bards album, A New Dawn Ending, is being detailed piece by piece. After revealing fans the first info about it, the Italian band is now sharing the cover artwork, created by renowned artist Felipe Machado Franco (Rhapsody Of Fire, Blind Guardian, Luca Turilli's Rhapsody).
These are the band's thoughts about the artwork: "The cover perfectly represents the essence embodied in this last chapter of The Black Crystal Sword Saga Pt.I: the final battle between Daltor and Sendor, which will reach its climax with an epic and unexpected conclusion."
The album that will hit the stores on April 25th via Limb Music and feature Rhapsody Of Fire's Fabio Lione in one of the tracks, will be available for pre-order from March 28th.

Well, this one doesn't look as an usual Machado's cover (not usage of yellow and cyan). Maybe he's evolving in his style.

This looks like a cheap photomanipulation: bland colours, weird perspective, artificial textures, inappropriate lighting.

Sorry for this comment, not want to bash an entire genre but I am believing that having shitty covers is the inherit characteristic of power metal.

The Myrath and Grave Dogger ones were probably my favourite, they were pretty well done. The Solar Fragment one had a nice style but the album and title fonts kind of ruin it... The last one isn't bad either, it's well done at least and not a crappy photoshop.

I know they are cheesy and not for everyone, but I love power metal album artwork and I think most of the time it fits perfectly with the music that is on the album. If you don't like power metal and find it too bright and cheesy or happy or whatever, then you probably aren't going to like the artwork that is made to reflect that.
