Sounds nice, but they've recycled that formula in too many albums. I hope that this time I'll be able to tell the difference between the songs.

Sounds pretty good...their music seems to have matured, while their overall style hasn't changed. Which is a good thing in my opinion; I'd rather they keep doing what sounds good than go the way of their Gothenburg brethren and dilute their sound until nothing remained of their original glory.

This is real melo death. Just look at this, actual In Flames and learn something from it.

Fuck Yeah!

I kinda forgot the song was even on after 10 seconds, until it finished. Not a good sign.

Why would In Flames learn something if they clearly stated they don't want to do their old sound anymore?

Haha, I can sleep through loud music so I don't think volume is the issue here =P

Yeah, me too, I sometimes suspect it even makes me sleepy if it's really loud...

Anyways, I quite like this one after a couple of listens, though I was never a huge fan of the band.

Great song and it shits all over every song on the new In Flames album. That said In Flames haven't sounded anywhere close to being this heavy since Colony/Clayman anyway. Look forward to the full release

Good stuff. Classic ATG. Sounds like these guys are poised to make a solid comeback à la Carcass. My only gripe: I wish the song was longer!

See, this is an example of the confused world that needed the masters to come back and do what they do best. Being themselves is all they need to do to rip off this trendy world's face. (Never let an over-saturated scene of imitators get you jaded to the real deal that deserves to embody what they at least co-OWN...if not own.)

Old fans do not care that In Flames do not want to do their old sound. In Flames is not In Flames any more their latest albums sounds like a shit. Even the last original member has left in 2010.
After such shitty latest albums In Flames should rename themselves to In Hipsters or something.

Yeah, quite clearly comes from the band that produced Slaughter of the Soul. I used to love that album but I don't even know the last time I listened to it, maybe this album'll get me back into the band. However, if the whole album stays too similar to what they've done before, the retreading of old ground might push me even further away interest-wise. Still, the quality of riffs and guitar leads here suggest they have the potential to write another Suicide Nation or even another Under A Serpent Sun, so I'm keeping hopes up of something great coming from this.

Just this, I think this won't happen though I consider In Flames as a lost cause, specially after listening to the new album.

As for the song is not bad, very Slaughter of the soul oriented which is a good thing, but I miss some intensity and power. Hope the rest is better.

And curious to see that the first track, which I suppose to be an intro, is featuring its title in spanish. It translates to ''Altar of the unknown god'', in case somebody is interested

Exactly. Some "Slaughter" leftovers, like a 10 sec teaser.

Yeah listening to this I think it's going to be this year's version of the Carcass come-back. All the sound and identity of their legacy albums but lacking the spirit and soul of them (and probably being a little on the overproduced side). It won't be bad by a long shot but probably not worth coming back to very often either when you can just listen to SotS.

Song is pretty good, not mind blowing but good successor to Slaughter. Hopefully the other songs are a little more unique tho.

Well, this sounds ok. But I would think most of us have had our tastes change since slaughter of the soul. I've gone much more extreme/more dynamic and now this sounds like something that I would take a nap to. It is nice that they don't sound like they have pulled an In Flames and removed all testosterone from their bodies.
