Apparently there's a new "thing" out there now - 'Doomcore'
Deathcore played slower, or down-tempo. Name's actually kinda catchy, and it's certainly less to say than "downtempo deathcore" (if it catches on anyway).
I know many people hate this, but, though I haven't really given this band much listens, I did listen extensively to a similiar band (Immoralist), and I liked it. Obviously, this isn't intelligent or "exciting" music, but it has that primal aggression that makes me like it nontheless.
Preeeeeetty sure it is Depends what sort of doom you're talking about of course. "Modern" doom - or whatever it's called - is all slow from what I've heard. Although, I would like to hear some "fast" doom if you know any
A lot of traditional doom is not really slow. Much of Candlemass's work is decidedly mid-paced, as is much of Witchfinder General, Trouble, Cathedral and so on.

Yeah, that's why I clarified by saying "modern" doom to avoid the misunderstanding...I knew someone would say this

Well not only traditional doom can be 'fast'. On 'Like Gods Of The Sun' by MDB there are also some faster songs.
/r/Deathcore has been talking about this album quite a bit. Downtempo deathcore has been the hottest new trend there. Here is a thread filled with bands in this style for those interested.
EDIT: So I just found out that this is what the members of Infant Annihilator have been up to all these years. Quite an interesting opposite of deathcore to say the least.
EDIT 2: This album has really grown on me. I'm a big sucker for really heavy evil atmospheres, and this has it in spades. L'appel du Vide is downright terrifying, and Eddie's performance in Vermintide is phenomenal. If Thy Art Is Murder didn't release an album this year then this would have been my vote for -core album of the year.
