I noticed he had a bottle of Rochfort 6 haven't tried any of the others he mentioned though. I'm just exploring the city I live in and all its off licenses. Found one today that's going to keep me going for quite a while now as it specialises in beers. Think I'm going to spend a lot there. Going to make my way through all the stouts to start with.

In my opinion the Rochefort 10 is quite overrated. The 8 really is much better. It's a better balanced beer all round. But why the 10 gets the praise is due to it's higher alcohol content and a little more extreme taste. Just like Westvleteren 12 which is somehow voted as best beer of the world almost every single year. Most probably has to do with that it is almost impossible to get hold of.

Btw the Organic Chocolate Stout is a great one. Have had it at my regular pub a couple of times.

Its easy to buy there in The Nederlands in ordinaryt pubs and stores or its like rare stuff
And what is price comparing to Bavaria, Heineken, Amstel etc

The shop does 6 and 8s as well. Will grab some today probably. Actually I might take a photo of all their stock and get advice here to what to drink as there's so much

congrats you bought a glass. i've got a Chimay one that came with the sampler pack (one of each, plus glass) as well as a enough pint glasses i've phased out the beers i dislike and got for free because breweries i like have given them to me.


and Joe, I've thought about doing likewise with the Belgies over here, but Marcel has already recommended some and i've randomly made my way through a good sampling. everyone else is relatively easy to figure out (German - get lager/helles, not big on the Weissbiers, nor the uber darks), but Belgian beer seems more a wild card.

But it was not easy to find it and same time cheep
If all will come true and wedling aducation will be good, depends where I get job, I could move to better place (even in summer I stay at mothers house)
Then more will be bought and my father will send me german cups

I like those glasses, Leffe was on red cross store, I did not bought it , since i needet money to pay for biroriactical stuff, but I didnt when I walk back , it was gone

I hade a guinness glass, it broke at christmass, fuck just now realise it happened at same time when my grandmother passed

I think from german I will stick whit hefe weisbier and hefe weisbier dunkel now
I am tired from lagers, I bought Spaten, nothing special, octoberfest vesrion is better

quite a few breweries, like Duits & Lauret, have a large wine glass as their preferred glass anyways.

There's this bar about 15 minutes away from where I live called World of Beer...they have a ton of great beer! This picture is not even half of what they have.
They have another cooler the same size on the other side of the bar, plus something like 50 taps. They have beer from all over the world, hence their name


Some beers I've been absolutely nuts about are Rogue Dead Guy Ale and Sweetwater IPA...both are from the US.

You're in P-cola? Was stationed there in 1990-91 (Corry Station) and did my outprocessing in late December 93 there. Picked a spot halfway across the country from where I live just so I could go to all the bars I couldn't back in 90.

Sluggos was the best place in town, had a decent tap selection from what I recall (for 1990, so there wasn't a lot going on here) ... I was their "approved" Navy guy, so occasionally I'd find a pint or three appear on the bar in front of me.

is Seville Quarter still around?

finally, what are the good South East breweries? the mrs and I are looking at trip in the CONUS in 2014 and 2015 and I wouldn't mind revisiting the Redneck Riviera again, including P-Cola, a stop off in Mobile, before continuing to Nawlins.

Well I know maybe 1-3% of all beers. I was looking in google for breeveries, but I find that one, seems its not updated some years
But its sad many of those went out of buisness ;(

Belhaven stout. Strong taste, almost like porter but not quite. Not the best beer out there but nevertheless a fine beverage.

Cesu, I didnt know they make so many porters, I know only one, what is seasonal winter porter, pretty good, but generaly Cesu is one big shit nowadays

May I submit a girly beer drink? Aprikat apricot wheat beer from Alley Kat brewery in Edmonton. I got through a lot of this ever summer. It's just perfect on a hot day.

My favorite lately has been Longtrail Belgian White.

Titan IPA (7.1%er) anyone? From the Great Divide brewing company. This is THE best beer I've ever tasted, it's really hard for me to try anything else. I've tried the Hercules double IPA (10%er) from the same company and it's my second favorite. Still, nothings beats my Titan =) Hops lovers enjoy!

I never said dubbel is better than tripel and with Westmalle the tripel is vastly superior to the average dubbel. The Westmalle tripel truly is a world beater

But you talk whit JOOE about something like dobble are better but other trappist beer
I am drinking triple now, preetty good, but maybe its wrong day to me, but I enjooyed dobble better yesterday and but this is OK to , diferent taste , more heavyer IMO, but good
But I thought it will be darker when I fill in the glass
On Monday I will buy both (if they will be, since yesterday all was sold out)

you are probably referring to me saying Rochefort 8 is better than Rochefort 10. Rochefort 10, however, is not a tripel. And to be totally honest Rochefort 8 isn't really a dubbel either. It is way too strong to be a proper dubbel.

I went to Bishops Arms today one pub in Luleå
Maybe not huge but generaly better choose then in other swedish bars from draft beers, many countries, but not so many stouts n porters as draft, but what a bottle choose + whisky
I bought one Chimay (I saw also blue n red bottle ) IMO it was tripple Chimay draft beer , light coulor

I know loads of 10%+ beer wioh a dark colour, hell, the 35% and 40%+ beers I've had are pitch black.
