This is really good, nice to see them continue dabbling with more melodic and post-metal sounds, this is at a very similar level of quality to Limbo

I like this album, but it's not been the easiest for me to get into tbh. I admit to begin with I wasn't blown away by the rest of this album after the first track, I found the song structures to get a wee repetitive and tiresome, but eventually the emotion behind the structure hit me, and it's definitely grown on me now for sure.
The build up for the opening song is phenomenal, and is still the main highlight for me, although the vocals also sound incredible, there's so much passion about them

Gaerea are one of the bands I discovered here and I am eternally grateful to Metalstorm for that. Limbo was great and Mirage follows that path. It's not just mare copy of its predecessor. It builds and adds to it. And as usual with Gaerea it's not easy listen and I like bit of a challenge. Solid 9 from me

Not enjoying this as much as Limbo. The suffocating production doesn't work here with the less intense moments like it did with Limbo. Also it's a bit too long for me.

Definitely better than Limbo at least, but still not as good as Unsettling Whispers.

If not for the production, it would be a 10/10.

So, what's special about this again? A stereotypical high-pitch Bandcamp production, with nothing innovative happening musically other than the sake of wanting to be loud.
Strum. Scream. Cymbal tap-tap. Strum. 4 by 4, blast-beat, post-themed clean breakdown, blast-beat, clears throat, scream.
Another mighty rating is again pulled down to the 8's range. And users cope when I view the overall quality of metal from the ratings of the top albums of the 90's onward declining of high green-rated works as being wrong.

Hows this faring for you on the post-black spectrum of stuff tried?
And are they actually pronounced sounding "Gay rear" right.

Always wanted to like Gaerea, cause besides Process of Guilt and Moonspell, they are without a doubt the most famous portuguese metal band abroad, but only with this album I was able to like them.
Previous ones were very standard modern black metal (à lá Mgla), but this one adds a post touch which makes everything click

This album a pure gem, but hey, that's just like, my opinion, man. Gives me ugh, ugh, those, ugh, Numenorean vibes.

Gaerea has a passion about them that cannot be undenied. Even with masks on the whole band brings forward a lot of emotions during their performances. One of the best in modern black metal currently.

You just nailed it with the above statement. In fact i personally feel there was too much of black metal albums in 2022 that at one point of time I felt like belching excess of it. Almost all in the above order. One positive is their production.

In the beginning I was made of clay. Then I bit the apple and they changed me to metal 🤘

Listened to this again and it's grown on me. But still, the production could better suit the songs. Less loud, more dynamic.

This is great but listening to it all at once makes the songs almost indistinguishable which is what I consider its only real flaw. If I listen to any of these songs individually they're all excellent but the album needed a little more variation to make it less samey. Throw in a few more mid-tempo parts or change up the song structures or something next time.
Besides that, tons of great performances from every instrument and the vocals too. I love all the melodic riffs and the ferocity of the writing. They remind me a lot of White Ward on their last album which came out the same year, just without the sax. No wonder both albums were in the top 20.
