Season Of Mist are a label that I primarily associate with extreme metal, and when looking at their roster, there’s good reason for that. I was therefore somewhat surprised to find melodic alt/prog band Black Orchid Empire as part of their line-up when scouring recent releases; however, Tempus Veritas is more evidence that when the label branch outside of extreme metal, they pick wisely.

This is a really solid album. I really enjoy Hydrogen, Glory to the King, and Summit.

While `Tempus Veritas` has a softer, safer & more predictable side, it certainly counterbalances it with some wicked, heavy & exciting Djent. I can imagine every song from this release playing on some popular alt-music radio station or featured in modern culture media in general. Tracks I recommend are - Last Ronin, Deny the Sun and Summit. Well made modern metal with clean vocals only - 8 out of 10.

Not my usual genre taste and not necessarily an album I can see myself regularly revisiting in the future, but it's still very well made, and I'm actually finding this a very enjoyable listen, especially with the nice soft vocals, which kinda remind me of Sermon (same vocalist?) and pleasant instrumentation. It also has it's good share of variety throughout, the heavier djenty elements actually work very well with the softer parts, which just as the above comment mentions, makes the album well balanced out overall.
