A little of topic but i found that Until the Light Take Us is somehow better than A Headbanger's Journey in a sense of objectivity ....

Headbanger's Journey is as bjective as it can get (except for the guy's drooling over Wacken as the be all and end all), imo.

Headbanger's Journey is as bjective as it can get (except for the guy's drooling over Wacken as the be all and end all), imo.

yeah i know...A headbangers journey is film made by metalhead for metalheads...Until the Light Take Us is film made by natural documentaries makers for metalheads ...The main difference is that they had a cooler heads when started writing a scenario about black circle....
And for all you think that Until the light take us is just about black metal...its no it is only about the black circle and its reflections on rest of the scene in Norway....

Is there any new metal docs made in 2001 til now days , ok maybe 2011 late 2011 till today?

This is a really interesting documentary by the band Car Bomb about how difficult it is touring and trying to make it in the metal scene. There are some excellent interviews with lamb of god and Gojira. I highly recommend it, kind of depressing, but you get a real high respect for these bands and how hard they work. Really puts things into perspective. The whole movie is on youtube for free.

Check out Metal Evolution. It's from Sam Dunn, the same guy who made Metal: A Headbangers Journey, Global Metal and Flight 666.
In this documentary series he explores different sub-genres in metal including Black and Thrash There is an episode for each sub-genre. I'm amazed not a lot of people know about this, it's really good. Check it out!!!

Well, that documentary was on air 30 mins back. It started with nu-metal history and that's where i snoozed off.

Metal Evolution was awesome but I missed an episode about pagan/folk metal

Black Metal Satanica's worth a laugh. It was a bonus feature on Until The Light Takes Us dvd.

I'd like to see a doc about early years of metal like 1974 to 1980 or something like that if there's any available.

The full thing of this (http://blackmetalthefilm.com/trailer/) used to be up on YouTube but I can't seem to find it now, maybe they removed it for some reason. Either way, if you can work out how to find it, it's a fucking fantastic short film that actually asks some really important questions.

I seen "Until The Light Takes Us" and wasn't so impressed.

Anyone knows any documentary where it focuses on Black Metal only? And preferably scenes from regions outside of Norway because am getting bored of all the hype surrounding that scene.

there is that "one man metal " doco with xasthur,leviathen and striborg. I thought that was a breath of fresh air for black metal doco's

Too bad it seems only to focus on clean female vocals. Nice to see Doro there, but it would be nice to have a documentary that involves more female vocalists and musicians from the extreme or more traditional metal scene like Jo Bench, Rachel Heyzer, Masha Scream, Sabina Classen, Onielar etc None of the more interesting female vocalists/musicians seem interested in doing something like that, though, and seems we'll always be stuck with either melodic/operatic female vocalists or Angela Gossow

Has anyone seen Slow Southern Steel? Its about the southern sludge scene, Ive been trying to find a way to watch it for about a year now but have had no luck

I recently watched the documentary The Story of Anvil which i found to be really good except of course what happened to the band itself. I highly recommend this to any metal head.
