Listening to this 4 days straight now and it is simply a brilliant album with a lot of diversity... haunting, atmospheric, riff-driven and memorable with occasional folk elements, synth, and plenty of progressive death and melodic soft passages too. Listening to it reminds me of the first time i heard still life and the first time I heard communion. Two epic albums that changed my interests in music forever. Really happy I got to hear about this band. Easy 9+ album. Current 8.8 is too low in my opinion.

A good album, technically really good, smart song writing, but, not very memorable to me. And I despise the cleans. Not something I will revisit anytime soon I figure.

The Opeth influences are nothing new for Wilderun, their previous 2 albums also have similar influences.
Without the "Opeth" parts, this could be a 10 for me.

Wow! Loving it! Didn't knew the band tbh ... but it's a really refreshing album. Well, it does remind Opeth here and there, but i wouldn't say it's a opeth copy + paste ... I think they got their own thing, they have a diferent vibe imo.
Im not a great fan of symphonic stuff, but it blends really good on this one.
Also seems very well produced, sounds really good and clean.
Might be my album of the year favourite !

After quite a few listens, I can now say that I love this album. I was very impressed with it the first time I heard it, but I somewhat dreaded the possiblity that it would end up being another Aquilus/Griseus case for me - incredibly awe-inspiring at first glance, but over-indulgent and almost over-written in hindsight. Not the case. This album doesn't overstay its welcome and the songwriting and production truly are superb. One of the my favorites from this year for sure.

I was close to thumb this up.
"A good album" -- yes, indeed.
"technically really good" -- yes, it is.
"but not very memorable to be" -- yes, that is the main problem here for me too
"Not something I will revisit anytime soon I figure" -- equals my conclusion
It is just that "smart song writing" I was hoping to find and waiting for until the album's end.
Unfortunately I didnt find it here. I guess, had I found it, the album would certainly have some memorable moments for me.
Some 6.7 for me.

Now I'm curious, if our opinions match that well, why didn't you do a thumbs up?

First time I heard of this band and the album is so good it's stupid...by far the best one I heard this year. Went on a deep dive into their previous albums and unfortunately they're no where near as good. Massive departure from their folky earlier stuff and definitely a shift for the better.

Even though I don't like folk metal in general, I must say I prefer their previous albums (mostly the debut.) This album scratches neither the "I want to hear some fun folky tunes" or "I need more Opeth" itches. The previous albums, while not getting a lot of playtime nowadays, at least did the former.

The vocals in this album is terrific, the music I suppose is too uplifting and melodic for my taste.

If you ever wanted to know what would happen if Devin Townsend produced and Opeth album, this is it.
Wilderun deserve all the praise they've received here. Spectacular record.

Far From Where Dreams Unfurl is just pure elation. It's the best song on the album and a prog masterpiece as far as I am concerned.

One year later, and I still listen to this album more than anything that's come out this year. Absolute masterpiece.

I don't understand the hype surrounding this album.
The musicianship is top notch but the music feels totally lifeless to me...I guess I missed something...

Great album, although not quite as strong as Sleep At The Edge Of The Earth IMO.
8.8/10 for me - 'The Unimaginable Zero Summer' is the standout song. 'Sleeping Ambassadors Of The Sun', 'Far From Where Dreams Unfurl', 'Scentless Core (Fading)' and 'When The Fire And The Rose Were One' are all also good.

Same as above comment, some great songs but Sleep is still better imo. This one seems to be a more song-by-song album, which means a few weaker ones.
Edit: It's a grower, and the first and last songs are some of their best tracks.
