A brave, powerful, transitional yet solid release.

I got the impression at times that there was significant old school death influence; anyone concur?

My first introduction to Enslaved, and one the very first Black Metal album I actually enjoyed. The addition of Progressive elements really improved their sound compared to the previous albums.

Discog run. Nice to see they got back on track after three consecutive forgettable releases.

Frost is certainly not forgettable, and definitely better than this one.

Dunno, I haven't bothered with Frost in years. The only thing I really like about it is the intro.

I really prefer this over their later Progressive stuff.

This is changes, in those days it can be experimental, but now it calls progressive , even it don't go far out from previous albums , but you can see and hear it begins new tunes and new melodies into it.
So far band did not coppy anything, did not rewrite anything.

Having ploughed through their first few albums before getting to this one, they were clearly always a good band, but the shift towards the band I enjoy so much clearly kicked off on this album, definitely a step up in the songwriting here

I think there is some death metal influence on this album but I don't really care for it. Too aggressive and hectic for me.
