Kypck's first album was a masterpiece - a devastatingly heavy and bleak ice-cold doom tomb that sounded like it had just stumbled in from the gulag. Their follow-up left something to be desired, with some songs that just didn't quite finish telling their stories, and others that never had much of one in the first place. So what direction does Имена на стене take?

Quite surprisingly, given how Erkki said about how difficult the process of songwriting for this album was, I now consider it the best Kypck record to this date. All the songs fit in, whether the more depressive kind (such as Имя на стене, Трос, грузовик и темный балкон or really heavy lyrics-wise Дети Биркенау) or the almost "cheery" kind of doom (such as Воскресение or Грязный герой).
My personal favourite tracks: Пророк, Имя на стене, Дети Биркенау, Всегда так было, Трос, грузовик и темный балкон.

I still find the debut album better but this is really good as well. Definitely a step up from the 2nd album which had its moments but was quite bland overall.

Whenever I write something funny, weird, or pretentious... I learned English by playing Baldur's Gate, okay?

The debut has quickly become one of my new all-time favorites! And it turns out to be quite impossible to top for Kypck. This is an interesting release here. It didn't blow me away like the debut, but it's solid. I'll have to give this more listens to see if it grows on me more

A Real Mönkey
I wish there were more bands with Soviet themes and imagery; it’s a hella underrated subject. This and NKVD are all I can think of.
