I think my 'favourite dead person' has to be Jim Morrison from The Doors - he could haev done so much more if he hadn't taken to drink and drugs.

My favourites ones are Valfar from Windir, Teemu Raimoranta from Finntroll& Impaled Nazarene, and recently Jon Nödveit, just because they were great musicians, live through their own ideology, I miss them...

I would probably have to choose Quorthon because all he has done for the developing Black metal scene and just because Bathory are one of my favorite bands.

My favourite dead artist is Chuck Schuldiner. Although I Don't have all of Death, and i only like the latter period, i think Chuck was a very open minded musician , with a lot to give to the death metal genre...his solos were tasteful , his vocals were his own souls, and those intelligent lyrics...damn i miss chuck ![]()

Ludwig van Beethoven. We'll see if people still listen to Pantera or Mayhem in 200 years, but Beethoven's music was years ahead of his time, in terms of heaviness and the broadness of his musical vision. While Mozart became famous for his flowing legato passages and tuneful melodies, Beethoven had extremely thick and heavy chords. Despite being deaf (another way to interperet the question in the title ![]() Honourable mention to Gustav Holst, for creating my favourite classical suite of all time...The Planets.

For me: Freddie Mercury (one of my top 5 vocalists ever) Cliff (because after Cliff'em All, you notice the diference of creativity between him and the others) And maybe it's not aproppiate, but I want to mentione Jason Becker, ok, he's not dead, but the fact of know he can't play anymore because his damn illness makes me so sad, really, we all are talking about people who couldn't continue their brilliant careers, and from that point of view I felt I had to remember the greatest guitar player ever (IMO), just listen his work on Cacophony and his solo album Perpetual Burn. Eternal glory to Jason Becker: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMv61u-iw7M EDIT: Maybe I was breaking some rule.

Valfar of Windir. He had some of the most exellent BM vocals and he created this "Sognametal" style. Many of his lyrics that he wrote was quite good too.

There have been quite a few who have made big impacts but for me personally Quorthon and Dead. Dead live in concert is one of my first Black Metal memories ages past. Will never forget it..

Dimebag Darrel. Although I am tempted to agree with cliff burton because maybe if he was still around Metallica wouldnt have sold themselves down the shitter. In the long run though i am sticking with Dimebag.

I'm not sure how he took us in exactly but he did, u know just for kicks.. Didn't know too much about the music or anything lol.. Its only later on that I even realized that it was Dead up there.. Some of my friends thought it was all thearetics but I knew it wasn't.. It was just the experience of the whole thing and the first time I ever saw any band play live. There's a lot that I dont remember clearly abt it just that it was a really unusual and awesome kind of experience at that time.. I remember only small bits and pieces of it though..

Anyway at least I got to experience it a bit. Once I really got into Black Metal I immediately was crazy abt Mayhem and for a while went to almost all Mayhem concerts in Norway.. Trondheim, Oslo... where ever I could manage.. Nothing like the first time though lol..!!
