Springsteen @ Principality Stadium, Cardiff

AC/DC @ Croke Park, Dublin
So the Batwolf, Cattle Decap, Mary Chain, Midnight, Green Lung and Springsteen gigs all ranged from great fun to exceptional, world changing events!
I didn't really know what to expect from Crowbar. I'm not the biggest fan of that style of metal and it was a Monday night. I had a decent night out, but I wouldn't rush to see them again.
Booked/In the diary until the end of 2024:
Brighten the Corners Festival Ipswich
Suffocation @ Colchester Arts Centre
Springsteen @ Wembley Stadium
Truck Festival, Oxfordshire
AC/DC @ Croke Park, Dublin
Fulci @ New Cross Inn
Gatecreeper/200 Stab Wounds/Enforced @ Islington Academy
The Devout (Depeche Mode tribute) @ Colchester Arts Centre

Mystic Festival 2024, Gdańsk Shipyard
I saw 28 concerts this year, which is two more than last year. I completely skipped the Sabbath stage, partly because it didn't have as many attractions as last year (Akhlys!!) and partly because last year's experiences there were poor. The other stages were great this year. Apparently, there was a record attendance and the most people in the history of the festival in Gdańsk, but honestly, it felt less crowded than last year when, for example, at Meshuggah, Akhlys, or Bloodbath, it was suffocatingly claustrophobic. I think the well-chosen lineup this year better distributed the crowd across the stages.
As for the concerts:
Total annihilation, my top 3:
Suffocation, Sodom, Asphyx – I love these bands, they played brilliantly, and I had a blast – what more could you want?
Perfect concerts, the next 3:
Mysticum, Megadeth, and Terrorizer – this trio is also 10/10, sheer delight, and uncontrollable spasms, but I had to choose a top 3 somehow.
Great concerts, rounding out the top 10:
Evil Invaders, Blasphemy, Satyricon, Kerry King.
Discoveries:
Mysticum, Evil Invaders, Dvne, Bewitched (Dvne and Bewitched didn't make it to the top 10, but their concerts were great, so they're interchangeable with the bands listed there).
Disappointments:
Paradise Lost (what happened there?)

Booked/In the diary until the end of 2024:
Brighten the Corners Festival Ipswich
Suffocation @ Colchester Arts Centre
Springsteen @ Wembley Stadium
Truck Festival, Oxfordshire
AC/DC @ Croke Park, Dublin
Doom Over Suffolk: Godthrymm, etc @ The Music Room, Ipswich
So it's been a pretty cool summer for gigs and festivals. Springsteen and AC/DC were the clear highlights and Truck Fest despite being good fun to hang out with my family sucked from a bands point of view. The only real highlights there were Yard Act, Wet Leg, Black Honey and Jamie T. Not enough quality for a 3 day festival IMO.
Here's what I have booked until the end of 2024:
Fulci @ New Cross Inn, London
Ulcerate @ Oslo, London
Bernard Butler @ The Church, Ipswich
Gatecreeper/200 Stab Wounds/Enforced @ Islington Academy
Deadsoul Festival: Winterfyllth, Wormwitch, Hour of Penance, De Profundis, Visions of Disfigurement, Bizarre Kult, and more @ Ipswich Music Room
The Wedding Present @ The Baths, Ipswich
Panzerfaust @ The Underworld, London
The Devout (Depeche Mode tribute) @ Colchester Arts Centre
Fontaines DC @ First Direct Arena, Leeds
The Jesus and Mary Chain @ Cambridge Corn Exchange
And a couple already for 2025:
Green Lung & Unto Others @ The Forum, London
Brighten the Corners '25 Ipswich

So it's been a great month of gigs.
I saw Ride in Cambridge right at the end of Sept, and then during October seen Peter Kay at the O2, Wunderhorse in Norwich, Fulci, Ulcerate and Fange in London and then most recently a very mellow Bernard Butler gig here in Ipswich.
This month is just as stacked. I have Gatecreeper, 200 SW and Enforced this Friday in London, Deadsoul Festival and The Wedding Present here in Ipswich, Panzerfaust in London (I'll give Kanonenfieber a go, but I'm no fan of them on record) and a Depeche Mode tribute in Colchester.
I've also just booked Ghost in London for April 25. Loving the fact it's a mobile phone free tour as well. It's high time, bands and promoters started clamping down on the excessive use of mobiles at gigs. It's ruining the experience for everyone!
Does no one else on this board go to gigs, or can you just not be bothered to post about them?

Only saw one recently- Maiden in Brooklyn back in November. I've seen them seven times and this was the best set list since Somewhere in Time featured heavily.

Last: Power Trip, Monday night in Norwich.
I wanted to see these guys back in 2018 when Riley (RIP) was still with us but I was on holiday so couldn't make it *softly sobs in the corner*.
Fast forward 6 years and they have a new singer and they're still playing the same setlist. Sure they play lowest common denominator crossover thrash but boy do they have some bangers! I had a blast.
Next: Green Lung / Unto Others on Saturday night in Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaarndon.
It'll be my third time seeing GL and fourth time seeing UO. I can't wait!!

Was that Vulgaris? Sorry, but I only managed to catch the last song.
Did you stick around for the rest of the bands?

Yeah that's us, and well at least you caught a bit of it lol
And yeah we stuck around for the rest of it - I enjoyed Ghosts Of Atlantis, but my favourite of the other bands was probably No Worth Of Man (the -core band with the shades and hawaiian tshirts), vibed way more with their style that I'd normally expect to

Yeah same! When they leapt up on stage with their GTA outfits, I didn't expect to like them as much as I did.
Darren always puts on a good show, and for an incredibly reasonable price.
He's just announced his summer fest for the 1st June and I've already bought my early bird ticket.

Last: Green Lung / Unto Others / Satan's Satyrs.
An unbelievable night in a packed, sold out London Forum. If Green Lung aren't destined for arenas and festival headline sets in the next few years, this world really has gone barking.
Next: Jack White at the Troxy on Saturday.
