I Don't like metallica much but on scene they are really great, Iron Maiden is much better, they are really biggest live band, after King Diamond of cause, maybe Mercyful Fate, but I never wathed'em

Well I have seem many bands live over the years but nothing beats my first live show. It was a Mayhem concert many many years back but I was quite young then (had to actually gate crash then lol). Anyways there was nothing like it with pigs heads, rotting clothes filled with decayed stuff, flesh, bones and an evil blood spattered atmosphere. It was rather like a war of some sort than anything else. It was so long back that I can't even remember which songs they were playing. I remember yelling "Dead is God" while Maniac was actually doing the vocals I think. However it changed to something like "God is Dead" once everyone else joined in lol. Anyways it was absolutely killer. Went home drenched in booze and blood jumped into some mud before entering the house and said that we were playing football lol. Nothing like that concert after that...

So atleast Mayhem try to keep their liveshows true. Check out the pics here: http://www.gatesofmetal.se/arkiv/default.asp?p=images&folder=Mayhem06# A friend of my was there (I wasent there though, I was at wacken the same time ![]()

Haha, I remember that Mayhem show, read everything about it. Our nice little country got really upset, at least the newspapers did the whole thing to something bigger than it really was. But one critic said that the show was ordinary Mayhem, a little boring though he thought. ![]()

I dont know I mean Sweeden has its own share of Black Metal bands all of which are bound to do something crazy now and then. I guess the press are all goody-two-shoes pop fans lol..

It was atila on vocals. And wacken was the best time of my life yet. Hope to surpass it this year ![]() And about sweden having extreme BM acts: Well they only bands that seem to be very extreme from sweden live seems to be Watain and Shining. And would the press even know what that is...

What about bands like Becksvart, Pest, Blut, Silencer, Blutgeist, Devourer, Dunkel/Dimhym. Also there are a few new bands. I guess not many of them play live? How about Shining anyway?

Account deleted Written by Himann on 23.01.2007 at 20:58 Well basicly no bands perform anything above the normal BM stuff other than Shining and Watain. Watain does the stuff with shitloads of blood and the usual bio-waste. While Shining goes for extreme self mutilation from the frontman. During 4 of the 10 shows shining played on their razors across europe tour the gig was aborted and the frontman carried to a hospital. Now that is entertainment ^^. I am yet to see any of the bands live but I really want to see them especially Shining. Sadly I cannot go to their gig that is going to be recorded and released on DvD in halmstad (aprox 1 hour from me) because the trains stop going back to my area at 22:00. It really pisses me off since I really want to see them, and ofcourse I have no drivers license... and there are basicly no BM fans in this area anyway so getting someone to drive me is also impossible.

Account deleted Written by Himann on 23.01.2007 at 23:07 Well I checked thoose things out and there only seems to be hotels (wich require you to be 18+). Or I could sleep on a bench (oh yeah!) on the trainstation for 11 hours. Oh And the trainstaition is such a small one that it is not "inside". so I would probably freeze to death. It sucks being 17, one year before I can drive a frickin car or rest at a hotel. Gosh... By the way, lets get back on topic. Looks like I am getting good at offtopicing at the moment.. If you want to continue the conversation please PM. Otherwise lets finish it off. On topic I would mention that the best live bands I have seen yet is: Emperor and Iron Maiden. Emperor because of the incredible atmosphere created in the audiance, everybody sang along with their hearts full content on basicly all songs. And when they played "With Streanght I Burn" the crowd was so into it that the experiance was ultimate! I say Iron Maiden also, because they used shitloads of requisite with style and class. And lets not forget Bruce and all the other wonderful bandmembers tight execusion of some of the best Heavy metal songs ever written. Top class!

I haven't seen any of the bands outside my country live (sadly), but on the basis of performance I choose Dark Funeral. Their gig list is indeed quite long and they really have giiven a lot of concerts, and their live sound and performance is also quite special and good. They have the same level of speed and aggression in their live songs as well (like in their studio recorded songs). The band members seem to be tireless ![]()

For me it would be Opeth, Mikael is quite a funny guy. Although I could imagine people getting bored with the lame jokes lol. Also I like Mendez' constant swinging with the head. Lastly, imho, they create the best music ever and perform it very well on stage!

@human error i agree rammstein is a really good live band, with the insane pyro's and stuff(i saw a concert at one of the mtv awards some time ago, and i saw there were some guys with masks breathing fire on "feuer frei" it was fucking INSANE) also blind guardian, as i have heard(and will know for sure, lol since they're coming to town in may) are really good live, with all the singalongs and hansi kursch's humouros chat with the crowd.
