As far as I know they did invent Nu Metal and have managed to keep their sound fresh and original since then. Their debut self titled album is still brilliant by today's standards and is one of my all time fave albums. Perfect for that teen angst.
I strongly urge any of you neigh-sayers to open your mind and give this band a chance.

Korn is a band, not just one man.

I dont know about the newer Korn alboums, but Follow the leader is good IMO. Freak on a leash is a great song! Especially the weird voices the singer achieves drive me crazy! Also children of the Korn and dead bodies everywhere rock!

I know Korn is a bit of a dirty word in metal fandom, but I quite like them. Liar and Politics, in particular, are excellent songs.

The first release, was a masterpiece then Life is peachy, follow the leader and the untouchables are also excellent albums. I sort of abandoned them when I started listening to more extreme bands, but I still really like their work. I felt the untouchables was more ambient @Anathemic I would get life is peachy or the self titled...you can really feel the edge with those albums. I have so much memories with Korn but I like them objectively; meaning I hate their new stuff and their unplugged because I feel that Korn lost their traditional style...TBH I think they should stop playing altogether to further avoid more shame. ( IMO ![]()

@ Hellraizer: at least give them the chance to present their new work. I think this one would be great, with Terry Bozzio in the drums and with the keyboards being more important.

What's up with the vocals in this band (and everything else)? It's laughable and... horrible! First time I heard Korn many years ago I laughed at them, and I still do. Terrible band! ![]()

19.04.2007 - 19:50 Written by Warman on 19.04.2007 at 19:04 Haha, I guess you can look at it that way, I like Korn because their sound is embedded in my head forever, so I love them either way. @Bitch Boy I listened to the new album and it really bored me...either Im drained out of energy for Korn, or their new stuff is just uninspiring...I think its the later TBH. They have been running for a long time, and its not surprising that theyve grown out for me.

@ Hellraizer: if you look for some energy then try "Take a look in the mirror", it somehow reminds me of the earlier stuff. What do you guys think about Korn being the headliner (or at least the first in the line up) of the Hellfest??

Megadeth or Slayer should be headlining Hellfest, seriously...Korn should really be a second tier band on that bill...

I think the same, Slayer and Megadeth are much more important bands and have larger careers, but I think it's because Korn is the most commercial among those bands ![]()

Have you heard the new song posted online on their official website?? For me it sounds really weird, it isn't even nu metal, it's like alternative rock or something like that. But I liked it.

Songs like "Thrash", "Falling away from me" and such "oldies goldies" are just brilliant, thanks to the vocals and their special sound ![]() I still think its a shame that KoRn and Linkin Park can be put in the same genre though, after all, dousin of "Britneys" just came and "stole" their sound, making KoRn "commercial", which is a shame, since they've done alot for metal, and shouldn't be put down just 'cos of that. For me, KoRn made metal exciting again.

I guess you have to be a korn fan to like them....I agree with Nixx, their weird way of approaching their sound is what adds up to their music. Daddy is a pretty creepy song too..

Korn...along Deftones...are the only nu-metal bands I hear oftenly, they're cool, each album has very good and different sounds. their debut was their best though, I think I do prefer their aggressive stance ![]()

last time I was home I collected all my Korn albums and brought them back here to listen to.. I used to be a fan but then just drifted away from them over time.. I look forward to hearing some of it all again though just for the nostalgia, etc. "Take A Look In The Mirror" was the last album of theirs I got.. I think they did an album after that but I've not heard anything from it at all..

Don't bother with See You On The Other Side...ever since Head left, their sound has been getting softer. Its a strange industrial/alternative sound now. It just doesn't sound like Korn anymore. Untouchables was just brilliant for tracks like Here To Stay and Thoughtless. Issues, Follow The Leader, and their self-titled album will always reign supreme in my mind as Korn-Brilliance. I think they are losing it slowly, sorry to say.

@ MeTalHeD: I think that it's not only for Head leaving, but because they've got now a full time keyboardist, not as an official member yet, but as a tour and guest musician. He's the guy with the horse mask that worked in SYOTOS, the tour, and that has been working in this new album. He's very envolved in the writing and the recording of the albums. We can also take into consideration that David, at this moment, isn't in the band too, and during the first releases he have Korn a lot of strength along with Fieldy's bass.

I think I gave korn way too many chances, and yet I still think they are a crappy band. Also remember that when I was younger, I used to watch their video (the one with that bullet that travels alot lol) over and over, HOWEVER! with my TV on mute, and having a good song playing on the back ground (yeah I thought that the video was really cool at that time lol) Few years ago somebody gave me "Follow The Leader" for my birthday, well I hated it, and to retribute the gift I gave that guy Rouge (brazilian pop group, something a lot like "The PussyCrappy Dolls") CD =D But again! I had the smart idea to give them another chance, and watched their unplugged, yes I was expecting that to be really crappy, but since the vocalist from The Cure (I like some of the Cure songs, and I think that they had a very important hole in todays gothic music, so he deserves my respect =D) would make a special appearence, so I decided to watch it anyways. GOD that was the worst hour of my life, I just couldnt get how come that many people like them? The vocals are so crappy, I hated the instrumental, and I thought that the lyrics where poorly done (with a few exaptions) Anyways, I dispise this band, and hopefuly their fans will finally open their eyes, and will start listening to some decent music

But, from your favorite bands list I also listed in mine Symphony X, Therion and Dream Theater, and also like a lot Iron Maiden, Sepultura, Helloween, Eternal Tears Of Sorrow, Pain Of Salvation, Blind Guardian and Kamelot. Is this decent music?? ![]()

20.06.2007 - 05:22 Written by Bitch Boy on 20.06.2007 at 05:11 So that most be the reason why I hate them so much, lack of individual tallent as you said above. I think I can describe metal in a simple sentence: "Tallented musicians playing extremelly creative music." and unfortunaly Korn is missing one of them, nope no tallent, well we can argue for ever and ever about their creativity, personaly I think that they started a crappy genre (that most die) but their music is somewhat creative (but definally not my type lol) however, the lyrics are really bad, and there is no skills involved in it... Still havent changed my mind about them...

20.06.2007 - 05:33 Written by 4look4rd on 20.06.2007 at 05:22 Well, there are lots of crappy bands in other metal genres. There are lots of bands that write really crappy lyrics (especially those in death/gore or in "troll" folk metal). There are lots of bands with musicians that lack of tallent. There are lots of singer with disturbing vocals. It isn't exclusively for nu metal. Korn's music isn't as complex as progressive metal bands, it isn't as extreme as black metal, the lyrics aren't as well-written as Therion's or Ayreon's, but still play good music, at least it has some melody and has been really influential on lots of bands not only in nu metal, but also in other genres in alternative metal/alternative rock.
