And on the seventh day God didn't actually rest, he let Katatonia create an album concealing all euphoria and calmness, Brave Murder Day; and he saw that it was good. And God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Katatonia and they slept: and he took one of their ribs and closed up the flesh instead thereof. And the rib, which God had taken from the band, made he October Tide and brought them unto the earth.

Really Great Album ...
I think its best Death/Doom of 2010
second "10" in my 2010 albums
and "A Custodian Of Science" worth than a whole album ...

I found it okay but nothing spectacular.
Imo the best death doom album this year is Ophis - Withered Shades.

A shame to hear it's only good, not great. I didn't really have much in the way of expectations anyway so still looking forward to checking it out.

its up to you to judge about the quality of this album...
still i think its best Death/Doom metal in 2010
but when marcel said ophis's new album is better maybe his right but if you comparison these two album you find some major difference in their fundamental that makes hard for us to judge what is best ...
October Tide's new album has same interesting formula in its song and going for Melodic Death/Doom but in Ophis's new Album you see dark and Black like atmosphere even in vocal style ...
if A Thin Shell is not a masterpiece , but definitely its a really good music ...

I was wondering if the upcoming Atlantean Kodex debut would be on your wanted list. I'm very much looking forward it indeed, especially if the self titled song is anything to go by.

Awesome, I really liked the stuff on the Pnakotic Demos but I have to say I liked how they turned up the epicness for that self titled song even more. That's good news indeed.

The self titled song is even from before the Pnakotic Demos I think. if I am not mistaken it's from their split with Vestal Claret.

Ah I see. I'm guessing they reworked it a little for the full length? Assuming the metal archives tracklist is correct. Just wondering what kind of sound they've gone for on the new one, whether similar to the Pnakotic Demos are the demo version of the self titled track (which I assumed was a demo track for the new album, how confusing).

Well f course now Marcus Becker sings it whereas before it was Phil Swanson. The tracklist on MA is correct.
The original version of the self titled is included on the Pnakotic Demos cd reissue which was released a couple of months ago. That one has all the AK songs from the comp. En split included as well as a live song.
The sound of the upcoming album is although similar to that on PD much more epic and powerful. A perfect production for this sort of music.
