Great record, why so much hate?

It's just that different people are looking for different things when listening to this record. Some will feel fulfilled, and some won't. Simple as that. I'm sure the "Pure sh*t" comment by Alex is a bit exaggerated though, or else he would have rated it much lower

Because they it's cool to hate them. They are a known name.

I really like this record. Typical Arch Enemy, but still some fresh air.

Much better than the last 2 albums,finally some new elements in their music!

The difference being that nobody in Arch Enemy is 60 years old.

Yeah 2 different styles altogether I guess but JP's aging is very evident in Redeemer Of Souls. That said I didn't mind the age aspect all that much... I thought other factors let down the new JP album a lot more, eg. the overall production.

I think arch enemy just keeps going down their new vocal is surly talented ( and beautiful ) but her voice has changed since she joined the band in some tracks u feel its a mans voice not a women she sounds better in The Agonist she sounds more original than here and i am a fan of Angela Gossow for sure ...
But the whole thing is that its not about the vocals its about the band the solos the riffs everything just gets weaker and Michael Amott Ex-Carcass and Former of Arch enemy one of the masters of melodic death plays so normally and average nowadays yeah surly its better than "Khaos of Legions" but its not Arch Enemy anymore

I know lots of people don't like this one that much but to me it's the best album we had since Anthems of Rebellion and it's in my top 3 AE albums (1)Wages of Sin, 2)Anthems of Rebellion, 3)War Eternal. I'm as fan of Doomsday Machine as most people I know even if I still like it). I did not saw Arch Enemy in concert since before Angela Gossow left but War Eternal tempted me.

I don't like that trope that if a metal band gets really popular you should hate it, I see that a lot for AE since that particular album. What I disliked in AE is how the more you progress in their discography the more it looses punch but this one has more bite than the previous one. Like they got something back.

Also I like Alissa White-Gluz's harsh vocals, I'm glad she took the job and think it fits her like a glove. Her voice has that kind of energy I like.

Overall my favorite tracks are War Eternal, Time is Black, Never Forgive, Never Forget and No More Regrets.

I actually really like this one. I Liked Alissa when she was apart of the Agonist, so i went in knowing i'd like the new vocals.

After the huge disappointment that "Khaos Legions" brought,this record is promising.
Although in my opinion Angela was the most suitable in vocal duties , it is high time the band moved on .She left the job to let Arch Enemy start afresh.By the time I realised she left the band I thought Arch Enemy would be beheaded but it seems Alissa did a great job at least to convince me as an Angela Fan.
Some few changes happened that I assume was not bad.
As The Pages Burn,Avalanche,On and On,You Will Know My Name are my favorites from this record that are really well-made.

Now this definitely is a comeback after whatever khaos legions was, some killer tracks here, "never forgive, never forget", "war eternal" and others. Sadly here there's no cool instrumental track, but nonetheless still a very good album

Average melodic death album, "avalanche" and "You Will Know My Name" are my favourite tracks, but nothing special.
