[Witty introduction mocking black metal stereotypes]
Devilish Impressions didn't exactly impress me with this EP. I mean, "adventus" is written with a v in place of the u, so yeah that kinda wowed me a bit. But that's about it. Fifteen minutes long, not challenging, not bad either. Just forgettable. I understand not every piece of plastic a band releases is supposed to be a masterpiece and all that, but it still had to be said.
So yeah, there are some nice bits in this. Devilbitch Impresario incorporate a good chunk of death in their black metal base. Their sound could be compared to many releases from the early 2000s, and more specifically to a less stupid and more varied Belphegor on Valium. No real complaint about the technical aspects of the music, as everything is played well enough, and the production doesn't do anything special with it. Can't say much about the songwriting either: average at best, but with enough variation to keep the listener awake. From typical black uptempo passages to more melodic-death-like moments, and even a few cleans on the second track, they still manage to make the EP coherent enough to feel as one long song. Not too hard when there are only two songs - but hey, I'm just trying to be less of a female from the canine species.
[Wittier outro with play on words with "impressions" and me not being impr... damn I already did that one]
