It's better than Maximum Overload. The song WAR! is the biggest highlight imo. I think this is soon going to become one of my favourite DF albums, along with The Power Within and Sonic Firestorm.

Woefully mediocre, even by DragonForce's one-trick pony standards. That tsongLi and Totman did with Babymetal eclipses just about everything on this. The Edge of the World was especially painful.

Not sure I understand the people saying this is better than Maximum Overload... it's not nearly as catchy, and sorry, but that's the measure of how good a Dragonforce album is.

Anyway, the first 7 tracks are all pretty solid, but after that I feel the album really drops off.

This is better than Maximum Overload, they tried something different with 2 tracks and one is pretty good imo (Silence). The other one, Edge of the World, was inspired from Iron Maiden and I think they could have done it slightly better. Overall for me, the key song was midnight madness, loved that song. The album itself is a better listen compared to Maximum Overload, I hope they keep this trend up and mix it up like they did with 2 songs. Also this album is more varied compared to their other albums imo. Recommend it for people to give it more than 1 spin.

I feel that the lyrics are better than M.O, and this album seems more cohesive to me with my 3 times spin.

Maximum overload is better than this.
There are not many melodies and elaborate rhythms like for example "the sun is dead".
But anyway, i like this.

I think they've slowed down.

I think their attempt was to mix it up, I know a few ppl who call them repetitive coz they use the same type of style over and over again, but this is a solid album imo

I just listened to this whole thing. Its actually really good, and I dislike Marc Hudson. But the instrumentation & lyrics are very good. They slowed it down (just a tad) & became way more melodic, with shorter songs. I don't dislike not one song, even the cover songs. Definitely better than Maximum Overload. I'll even say better than Ultra Breakdown & better or equal to Inhuman Rampage, which are my fav from to begin with.

Okay its been 3 albums and i've come to the conclusion now that i'm sick of the new singer. I liked him on The Power Within, thought it was a nice change of pace and the writing was pretty good. After that, took a break from the band until just recently when I picked up the 3 albums I was missing: Ultra Beatdown, Maximum Overload and Reaching. Anyway, long story short my favorite of the three by a landslide has been Ultra Beatdown. The original singer just synergizes with the bands sound so well, its like hes just another instrument and not the focal point. The new singer detracts from the sound and brings the vocals too much into the forefront. Anyway, its not to say that these newer albums are bad. Astral Empire is the highlight for me on this album but I likely will only be going back and listening to that track in the future.
