Much like Phreqs, this song suffers a lot from flimsy production. My hopes really aren't too high for this release anymore, which is a shame because everything else they've ever done I've loved.

Much like Phreqs, this song suffers a lot from flimsy production. My hopes really aren't too high for this release anymore, which is a shame because everything else they've ever done I've loved.

Yeah, shit, almost sounds like a different band at points and the intricacies of the guitar riffs combined with the fact that they're not cloaked in that hazy, smothering, (theoretically) trademark Portal sound makes it sound more like some sort of modern tech death, and not in a good way.

I dunno, might sound like idealism, but I really wish the rest of the album doesn't follow suit with that kind of guitar tone, because I do enjoy the increased vocal audibility around The Curator, it'd just be better if backed by that signature production. Ironically, the teaser they shared is actually sounding closer to "the old Portal" than either of the two tracks, so.... am I stupid to hope?

I'd say, given just how similar the two full songs they've released are in stylistic approach, that the odds of the rest of the album being any different are quite low. I'm also really not a fan of the vocals being so high in the mix.

The impetious rituals from last year was great. I wish they had came up with something like that.
