It's a trend to produce DVD in Poland nowadays. If the first reason comes from the low cost of the production, one of the others reasons is that the producers and directors of the country are really good. We had the proof of this quality with the last DVD of Anathema (also released by Metal Mind) but if you want one other good example, the DVD of the Metal Mania Festival 2005 is also there for you.

The Metal Mania festival is one of the most important festivals of the center of Europe. Each year a lot of famous international artists accompanied by local Polish bands come to the festival and lately, Metal Mind decided to record the shows.

This pack is composed of a DVD and a CD. I didn't get the CD with my promotional copy but as I know, it's a live recording of young bands from Poland. Unfortunately I will not be able to say a lot of others things about this CD? But that's not the same thing with the DVD. First I have to say that this DVD is one more time well recorded, especially when it comes to talk about the images. The sound is not so good and lacks of power sometime, plus it's not so easy to hear the public but in general it's ok. As you can see in the set list, this is more a compilation than anything else so you'll be able to watch "hits" like the famous "Death In Fire" of Amon Amarth or the excellent cover of "Seek & Destroy" by Apocalyptica. This is a good DVD, the videos are well done and you'll be able to see that the director never lack of technical means ( there are a lot of cameras for example), it's really impressive but at the end, the quality is here.

We don't have a lot of additional features, but the few ones are biographies, pictures or festival history. It's nice, well done and can be helpful but not so interactive? Let's say that it is a good bonus but nothing essential and surprising.

If you were at the Metal Mania 2005 or if you want a good compilation, this DVD is a must. On the other hand if you're looking for some good live DVD, well in my opinion it's always better to buy the last live DVD of the band x or y? Compilations aren't so interesting but at least the "Metal Mania 2005" can give a good idea of the quality of the festival.

Note of Jeff: No rating here! It's simply impossible to rate a compilation of various artists.
