Twisted Sister, a band probably most known nowadays for wearing women's clothes, generally looking "hideous" (as Dee has said himself) and a few of their popular singles, which I always found a great shame because their albums are well worth listening to.
Of course they were strongest in the eighties and the common opinion is that after their "Stay Hungry" album, they just went downhill and nothing else was worth listening to.
This is where I disagree to an extent, as this album "Love Is For Suckers" is ranked in my opinion just as highly as "Stay Hungry".
"Love Is For Suckers" is one of those albums that you either love or you hate; there is no in-between about it.
The album kicks off with the powerful "Wake Up (The Sleeping Giant)" to warm us up - and then straight into the so typically eighties sounding "Hot Love" and then the highly catchy "Love Is For Suckers".
The albums works it's way through with plenty more catchy songs (such as "Me And The Boys" and "I Want This Night...") and bucket loads of eighties feel - and finally ends with the almost punkish in some aspects "Yeah Right", which should leave the listener with a good impression of the album afterwards.
The album does not show such a high pace as songs such as "Stay Hungry" or "What You Don't Know..." from previous albums, nor anything with such emotion as "The Price", but the album is very consistent at delivering good, solid and enjoyable chunks of rock/metal.
I think it is safe to say if you love the feel of hard rock and heavy metal from the eighties then you are going to enjoy this album. I recommend to anyone who likes this sort of music from this time period.
