After two EPs released in 2005 and 2007, the first album of the Russian combo Svartby, "Kom I Min Kittel" is now officially released! Svartby is a new Folk Metal combo influenced by Finntroll and really this first album is not disappointing at all! Sure, the main influence of the combo is probably a bit too important but all in all "Kom I Min Kittel" is a cool Folk Metal album. The fans should try this CD!

If you like dancing and jumping Folk melodies, be sure that "Kom I Min Kittel" will be a must for you. Like Finntroll, Svartby uses a lot of accordion and "polka" melodies in their songs. That's a bit cliché and kitsch on a side but I will be honest with you too, this is also mega catchy! "Kom I Min Kittel" is a short album with only ten songs but these songs are all (except the first one which is an intro) very good with nice melodies and great choruses. Like Finntroll the songs of Svartby are composed of Flok melodies with fast tempos, Metal riffs and Death Metal vocals. It's not really new, I mean that Finntroll did it before but at least it works with Svartby too!

On the other hand, even if the songs are more than correct, "Kom I Min Kittel" suffers of some little problems. The principal problem for me comes from the sound of the Folk "instruments". We have a lot of accordion here but it's a keyboard which produces these songs and it's really cheesy and mega kitsch. That's a bit sad or most probably funny but we have a ton of sounds and little melodies which are "weird" in this game? hoo sorry in this album! It was easy to do this mistake, "Kom I Min Kittel" is like an old video game soundtrack, and if you used to play to 90's Adventure games you'll understand what I mean! Also even if the production is really good, the album is short with two instrumental. "Kom I Min Kittel" is not bad, at the opposite but it could be better!

If you like Finntrol, "Kom I Min Kittel" is for you! This album of Folk "Polka" Metal is really cool and funny. This is not perfect of course but be sure that you'll have some great moments when you'll listen to the album. "Kom I Min Kittel" is not the album of the century but it's a cool release of happy Folk Metal. The fans know what they will have to do now!

In another forum I saw a Swedish guy saying that this band sings in such a broken Swedish, that although the title is meant to mean "Come Into my Cauldron" it actually means "Cum In My Cauldron"... I couldn't stop laughing... any Swede here to tell me that that's true?

In Danish it can mean both things (but most people will think the latter) so I think it's the same in Swedish...and yes it's hilarious
