THE Top 20 Of 2011- don't accept lesser lists as this is the definitive one!?!?!?!:)

Thumbs up: 0
After browsing a number of the Top Albums of 2011 lists I felt that I was obligated to put together my own list based on the fact that my tastes seem a bit different than what I've seen on here. So, here are My Fav's of 2011 though not in order......good year for metal in my humble opinion. Some of the picks here won't be everyones cup of tea but each to their own. If people have suggestions that I may have missed based on the genres represented below feel free to comment and let me know about them.....I'm sure there are numerous releases I have not heard.

1. Krisiun - The Great Execution
Not as brutal or fast as their previous works but alot more varied which for me increased the interest levels....great listen!
2. Trap Them - Darker Handcraft
Crusty Hardcore that may just want to make you break something....not to be listened to in a China shop!
3. Woods Of Desolation - Torn Beyond Reason
Quality Atmospheric Black
4. Beyond Creation - The Aura
Brilliant musicianship with each song typically containing a memorable hook that makes you come back for more. For those pissed off Quo Vadis are still pissin about in the studio or those who didn't dig the Vocals on Obscura's new one! Brilliant bass!
5. Anaal Nathrakh - Passion
Another slap in the nuts from the English BM/Grind heads!
6. Nader Sadek - In The Flesh
One of the more interesting Death Metal releases this year, must listen for any Death metal fan!
7. Nervecell - Psychogenocide
Arabian Death Metal....oh the riffs!
8. Obscura - Omnivium
The cynic style vocals annoyed me initially, but once I got over that this one blossomed......The thinking mans Tech/Prog death!
9. Wolves In The Throne Room - Celestial Lineage
A return to form for these atmospheric black giants.....want to move somewhere rainy so I can enjoy this one even more
10. Machine Head - Unto The Locust
The biggest grower of the year on me, wasn't impressed at first but once it plants the seed it sucks you in.
11. Fleshgod Apocalypse - Agony
Completely OTT Symphonic Death....wish the guitars were higher in the mix but you just can't help enjoying this one.
12. Vader - Welcome To The Morbid Reich
Because it's Vader!
13. Ghost Brigade - Until Fear No Longer Defines Us
Atmospheric sludge of the highest order once again.....damn consistant band!
14. Lock Up - Necropolis Transparent
Because they threatened to rape me if I didn't include this Gridcore Supergroups latest offering!
15. Toxic Holocaust - Conjure And Command
Reckless driving inducing blackened trash
16. Sólstafir - Svartir Sandar
Icelandic post metal, maybe not as good as thier previous effort but great all the same
17. Deafheaven - Roads To Judah
Brilliant Balckgaze(or something like that)
18. Altar Of Plagues - Mammal
Cos I had to have 1 Irish release on here and I preferred this to Primordials one!
19. Symbolic - Scarvest
Catchy Melodeath.
20. Graveborne - Pure Negativity
Straight up Mid paced Black for the most part....good tunes!

The questions marks in the title make me doubt the definitiveness of this list.

Redemption didn't grab me as much as their previous 2 releases, not sure why.

Tricky to be definitive with something as subjective as musical taste and without hearing every single Metal release of the year!;)

If this is indeed the definitive list then please add descriptions/brief notes and let us know why you chose these albums. It makes reading lists so much more interesting (well, interesting in the first place).

Check out the New album reccomendation 2011. It's (supposed to be) dedicated to 2011 releases that pass under the radar and deserves attention.

You cannot sedate all the things you hate - MM
The Observer is the source of reality - Bloom
