Albums That Moulded Silver_foxy's Current Metal Palate


Not nessecary my current favourites, but these are the albums that had a great impact on me or had opened up new horizons in different sub-genres. Most of these would be pretty recent and mainstream but I only started listening to Metal in 2007 after all. They are in chronological order of which I listened to them through these few years.

2. Metallica - Ride The Lightning
(1984) Thrash Metal
3. Nightwish - Dark Passion Play
(2007) Symphonic Power Metal; Introduced to me by my ex
4. To-Mera - Transcendental
(2006) Progressive Metal; Got a Jazz and fusion feel to it and hard to digest. First experience with Prog
5. Kamelot - Ghost Opera
(2007) Symphonic Power Metal
6. Amesoeurs - Ruines Humaines
(2006) Black Metal / Post Punk; The despair just works here
7. Children Of Bodom - Follow The Reaper
(2000) Extreme Power Metal; First experience with harsh vocals
8. Shade Empire - Sinthetic
(2004) Symphonic / Industrial Black Metal; The only album that blows me away every single time
9. Riverside - Anno Domini High Definition
(2009) Progressive Metal; The album that got me into Prog properly
10. Acid King - III
(2005) Stoner Metal; The album that got me not to write off the Stoner genre
11. Strapping Young Lad - The New Black
(2006) Industrial Thrash Metal; Devin Townsend is amazing, both as a composer and musician
12. Protest The Hero - Fortress
(2008) Progressive Metalcore; The album that made me realise there are gems among the Metalcore genre, absolutely hectic and no time to get bored
13. The Monolith Deathcult - Trivmvirate
(2008) Industrial Death Metal; A lot of staff dig this. Me too
14. Arcturus - The Sham Mirrors
(2002) Avantegarde Black Metal; Floored. nuff said
15. The NULLL Collective - De Monstris
(2010) First ever Funeral Doom that got me hooked
