A little list series where I list my top 20 favorite metal albums every year starting from the year I was born in.
2003 may not have been that spical, but for me I think it was possibly one of the best years for Power and Symphonic metal, also this was the year where I started to listen to metal regularly going back to classic albums and bands, starting my metal journey. My favorite non metal albums of 2003 1. De-Loused in the Comatorium By The Mars Volta (Progressive rock, Post Hardcore)  2. Damnation By Opeth (Progressive rock)  3. Michigan By Sufjan Stevens (Chamber Folk, Singer-Songwriter)  4. Absolution By Muse (Alternative Rock, Art Rock)  5. Elephant By The White Stripes (Garage Rock, Alternative Rock, Blues Rock)  My favorite movie from 2003

Not a good year for metal in my books. In fact not a single release that I consider really relevant. A handful of very good albums and quite a number of good albums though. My favourite albums from 2003 are (upper 7s included): 1. Moonsorrow - Kivenkantaja 2. Katatonia - Viva Emptiness 3. Swallow The Sun - The Morning Never Came 4. The Gathering - Souvenirs 5. Bathory - Nordland II 12. Kamelot - Epica 13. Draconian - Where Lovers Mourn 14. King Diamond - The Puppet Master 15. The Old Dead Tree - The Nameless Disease 16.
