Some metal albums really make you think “damn, do I love drums”.

"Satisfyingly percussive Amazon-inspired death metal debut."

Wow, Jeff Bezos really outdid himself here.

Really good drums, but really not groovy.

I have to disagree on the praise for the drums here. Yes, they're technical and hard to execute, but they're also all over the place and tiring for the ears. I like some of the tribal elements here, but they're far apart and not always well connected with the rest. The vocals are also below average, very raspy not in a good way. Not a bad album, but they still have a lot of work ahead of them to master this kind of sound.

So much potential wasted here because the band really wanted to make death metal. The most interesting parts of the record are the slower, less chug-chuggy, and more drone-like sections that are still dominated by nice drumming but do not go full blast. I hope they explore something like The Occult Side of Nature, which very much sounds like the tribal version of schammasch's more drony outputs.

Hails to those drums. The song the occult side of nature has such a cute satanist video.
