A solid release as expected, but I'm not finding anything particularly special about it. Production wise this couldn't have been done any better, the sound is so pristine considering all the multi layered elements they have in place, the drumming sound in the mix is top notch, the guitarwork sounds great, and the symphonics are mixed in perfectly well with all the instruments. The album overall is very well structured, and the use of various vocal styles fit in very well with the music creating a dynamic atmosphere, particularly the chanting on the last track. I admire the work that has gone into creating this almost perfect sound, but for me it's almost too perfect, and unfortunately it's too clean sounding for my taste. The songwriting is nothing out of the ordinary, the riffs aren't all that memorable, the mid-tempo sections felt a little uninspiring, and it also felt like it was missing that raw authentic edginess from days of old. The blackened sound and atmosphere does give me Behemoth vibes, which again is of no real surprise, but strangly in some sections it almost sounds like they were inspired by Nile, particularly with the slower Middle Eastern inspired melodies, and technical lead guitar work.
