A second lease of life for this Australian disso-death metal band courtesy of an injection of Convulsing.

A Nice Guy
Nothing special, but not bad overall. There's clearly some doom influences at times throughout the album, which generally sounds good, but the songwriting is a little bland, and there is nothing I personally find memorable about it tbh. The sound is alright it's just a wee bit boring structural at times imho.

I remember their debut to be much more impactful. This feels flat and dry to me. It sounds more like a normal techy dissonant avantgarde death metal for most parts, with not much to differentiate itself from the rest of the pack. Unsurprisingly, the most memorable track is "Opening the Passage" with its diskord meets portal vibe. The last track is also amazing, but it feels too short for its own good and is something I would love them to explore more.

"techy dissonant avantgarde death metal"

those are words you don't normally see prefixed by "normal"

that was a half-joke intending to make fun of the fact that dissonant avantgarde death metal is becoming a saturated genre which not much distinction between the bands, which defies the whole idea of avantgarde art. This to me is similar to what happened with black metal bands that started copying DsO, in a way making that style one of the most common forms of black metal.
