As metalcore goes I didn't find this too bad tbh, there's some quite catchy tunes with decent enough breakdowns here and there with nothing over top about it. I'm still not one for the vocals, and I didn't find anything particularly memorable about it, but musically it's actually sound.

From what I remember The Black Dahlia Murder - Nocturnal is probably my favourite, that's if you can class that as metalcore. Not a genre I generally pay much attention too tbh, so nothing this year has really stood out for me thus year in the genre

In that case I'm genuinely struggling to find a metalcore album that I find to be better than mediocre, there has to be be an album in this genre worth looking into, any recommendations

I find that there are many different influences with metalcore, so here are some of my favorites with different styles.

A really good album that I think stems from Thrash metal is The Art Of Balance by Shadows Fall.

One that's more progressive metal than anything, and definitely in my top 5 albums of all time, is Fortress by Protest The Hero.

More punk, "Hail Destroyer" by Cancer Bats.

"Deadman Walking" by Arkangel if you can get past the more raw production.

More hardcore, and my favorite album of all time. "Just Another Day" by Never Ending Game.

Honorable mentions,

Misery Never Forgets by Wristmeetrazor
Impenetrable Cerebral Fortress by Gulch
God's Hate by God's Hate

For some strange reason, this is the only metalcore album in my collection that I've rated above 7/10.
