I haven't really listened to Wintersun since 2006 or so. Those two years I listened to the S/T a lot and loved it. Now I thought I'd listen to their discography once again to prep for this release. It's fun metal! No matter all the shit that Jari has been doing, the music is solid.

Sure, language changes and evolves. But that doesn't mean words don't have definitions. I haven't come across any definition of the word song that makes it appear that it includes instrumental pieces. (Even the urban dictionary mentions singing) so you cannot pretend that it's a universally understood concept that instrumentals are songs. I can't speak for the user that you originally quoted, but I feel like that is what they meant. You wanted to know what they meant and they didn't respond, so I gave it my best shot.

If you're friend plays the guitar but doesn't sing and you want him to play something, do you ask him "Can you play an instrumental / a track?"? No, you ask him to play a song.

You can call any piece of music a song, that's not the point I was trying to make. You asked the user blindg what he meant and in his absence I tried to explain that if we're looking at the definition of a song then technically instrumentals aren't songs because there is no singing.

Maybe I didn't explain myself well enough, but then you didn't really respond to any of the points made in my last comment. It's quite tiring to have a conversation with someone like that, so I'll stop my part of this (off topic) discussion here.

It is solid music, but I get this sort of itchy feeling from the vocals. I just can't separate Jari's voice from his personality anymore.

You're talking about the strict definition of the word 'song' and I already mentioned semantic change. My previous comment was a perfect response to yours because it very simply showed what I was trying to get through to you.

I just noticed this on the upcoming releases, what has it been a decade of saying this album is going to come out...

Saying a song is only a song if it has singing in it is one of the more baffling takes I've heard recently.

I just listened to it. It's full of solos everywhere. It's a hybrid between the debut and Time I. The perfect Wintersun album.

One with the Shadows is the song of the year for me. It just took over The Epitaph by Cistvaen. The guitars are weeping and Jari's vocals are excellent!

I wonder if Jari or Teemu did the guitar solos on this.

Better than Time I to me! Absolutely love it!

The best album of this year！！！

Wow Time 2 and my first Metallica concert on the same day. Can't tell what I'm more excited for.

In order to appreciate this album, I went back to listen to TIME1 again. I admit that TIME1 is a very ambitious album, but they did not realize this ambition in TIME1. As for TIME2, I can say responsibly that the quality of this album is much higher than TIME1, and it is easy for listeners to find their feelings about the first album from this work.

Definitely one of the top three albums this year.

I would rate this album at an absolute minimum of 9. Stop assuming every high rater is 'blind' and accept that some people like this band.

And how is releasing good music 'luring fans in'? Genuinely curious what you're on about here.

I don't see a problem with that? The problem is dismissing all 9s and 10s as blind. 10s I can understand calling blind considering its the release day, but just the same way some people don't like Wintersun's 'recent' direction, some may find it amazing (its a perfect sound for me). After multiple listens, rating a 9 is completely warranted if the listener feels that way. An instant 10 is obviously to be taken with a grain of salt (unless explained I suppose) so do not get me wrong on that front.

I fail to see the relevance of bringing up the people who dislike this sound when you choose to dismiss the opinions of those who like it.
