Additional info
Released in the brief period during which the band was known as Ambrose Slade. It was released in the United States under the name Ballzy with a different cover and was later reissued in the UK as Beginnings Of Slade after the band achieved commercial success.

The song "Journey To The Centre Of Your Mind" uses the British spelling "Centre", but it was originally written and recorded by Canadian-American band the Amboy Dukes, who released it with the American spelling "Center".

The album cover depicts the band posing on Pouk Hill in Walsall. The unpleasant experience of being instructed by the photographer to remove their prepared costumes and pose shirtless in cold weather inspired the song "Pouk Hill" from the band's second album, Play It Loud.
