It's common knowledge that nowadays, Metal comes from Europe, the 80's wave of extreme Heavy Metal from North America is over, the ball is now in other terrain, but while many people look North America as the United States, many overlook the fact that Mexico and Canada are there too, and that brings us to the homeland of the band we're reviewing today.

Sad that such good bands don't play anymore, in this genre, genre is dead, quality to, just one moment in time, few bands, if I recall it was Daniel aka Souther Wind what suggested to me try this in old ms days

"The Quaker"
Upon revisiting this I feel like the first half of the record doesn't always work for me, feels less inspired and even amateurish in some places (the production also didn't help) - but the latter half slays hard.

I have a similar opinion but I don't think I'd go so far as to call it amateurish. The entire album is inconsistent but there are masterful moments that burrow into your head and remain there for years without even needing to listen to them again.

This is a brilliant album, very technical guitar work with some great melodies, especially those riffs on Shores Of Ithaka, it's similar style to Symbolic and TSOP by Death.
The drumming is outstanding! very fast and complex, amazingly skillful, some of the best I've ever heard.

There is a lot of variety in the tempo here, almost Thrash in parts, with some slower sections, although some parts dragged a little too much, like Point of no return Pt 2 which had such a long pause midway through, and Dreams which has beautiful guitaring but is slow and gets a little bit boring in parts.

On the Shores Of Ithaka, Hunter/Killer and Let it Burn are my favourite songs here.

Ok I've come to the conclusion that in terms of quality riffs, this album is the best in death metal, that is unless anyone can come up with an album for me that matches the same level of melody and technicality the riffs have on this album, Death Symbolic comes close imo.
