Just add this recently...and it looks very tempting, especially the first day.
Also the date gives me hope to attend this magnificent fest...

I was hoping they would keep the usual halloween week-end dates cos they were perfect for attending this year. Alas, it changed and now I'm gonna go cry to my room
Without doubt the only great fest in spain

Usual Halloween weekend dates?
In 2009 Madrid Is The Dark I was 11.09.2009-12.09.2009
In 2010 Madrid Is The Dark II was 30.10.2010-31.10.2010
So, only last year's Madrid Is The Dark was during the Halloween weekend.
The reason why it is held in December now is that Malta Doom is 4 and 5 November, Dutch Doom Days is on 11, 12, 13 November.
Those dates for those festivals were known before the Madrid Is The Dark dates were set. Having three doom festivals in a row will have all three fests see a lot less people attending. Because remember that most of the people present at those fests will attend all those doom fests. That's how small the doom scene is.

There it's fixed
Anyway, I was just complaining that putting this on a "puente" (bridge?) and in some not so good location outside madrid isn't a very good idea, even more if the doom scene is that small. Lots of people complaining about it... just saying
Hope it will come out fine

Yeah it surprised me as well that they moved to a different location once again. I heard that last year's location was really good. The first time was also a good location at Ritmo Y Compas (the edition I attended) but that was actually too small especially seeing the bands they programmed last year and now this year's line-up which has even bigger names.

Ha, i know it's kinda sad in the end but i find it a bit funny that Madrid is the Dark Fest is being held in Getafe, one hour or something from the actual city by the metro

Daaayum, if I had the money, I'd so be there for Day 2. Awesome line-up. Although it would be great if Asphyx switched places with Skepticism...

Well, last year it was at Sala Caracol, which is in my opinion the best venue in madrid, and also had an awesome line up with primordial, alcest, forgotten tomb,... But apparently they sold-out very fast (place has like 400-500 if my estimation is correct).
I think they wanted to be a bit too ambitious since they planned first a three day event and old-school is apparently pretty big (for doom fest).

Look at who's headlining both days, so it's no wonder they wanted a bigger venue than Sala Caracol and especially Ritmo Y Compas (which only holds 250 people)

Venue change, now it's Sala Cats, near Arguelles in Madrid.

Changes again... was close to getting canceled. Thankfully they found a quick solution. From the website:
"It seems that the bad luck that has plagued the third edition so far, has struck once again.
After putting all our new hopes into the Sala Cats, at the last hour we have received news that the infrastructure of the venue cannot make the festival happen.
Our indignantion as a cause of their professional negligence as how they handled the situation has forced us to already begin to undertake legal actions against them.
Once again we have been near forced to throw in the towel but without looking back we will continue with the project we began in earnest back in 2009.
The festival will now be celebrated in the Sala Penelope located at C/ Hilarion, (Metro Moncloa, Arguelles)."

Damn, some real problems this year after two smooth editions.
Was as the first edition at Ritmo Y Compas which was awesomely organized. But of course that venue is way too small for this line up.
Will hear from Pim of OT how this edition went since he is going.

Well unfortunately this year the fourth edition of this fest will not happen.
Official statement: "As many of you know, following the 2011 edition our outlook for the future of the festival was not very positive. Not only due to the small economic loss or the last minute venue changes, but for reasons relating to both the festival and on a personal level, we did not see a clear reason to hold the event again in 2012.
"After a couple of months of reflection we decided to give it another shot but we noticed that this edition wasn't coming about as naturally as the previous ones. We do not want to feel forced to organize the festival at any cost. We want to organize a high quality festival similar to the previous 3 years. Following some consideration in order to keep this high level of quality we have decided to take a break.
"Don't take this as a goodbye because we intend to return next year, and please do not forget us because we haven't forgotten you."

Gotta love it when organizers do this. At least you can be sure that they pour all their passion into it.
