Unless you've been living in a cave for the last couple of months, you know that Hellfest Open Air 2011 took place last weekend.
As always, Metal Storm sent out a small army of reporters to cover the event. You can expect an exclusive live report, tons of hq pictures and an anthology of our most memorable festival experiences to appear online in the next coming weeks.
We also had the chance to meet up with some artists backstage. After the small talk and/or a few beers, we got to the juicy details. Here are a handful of scoops we gathered during our chats that we don't want to keep from you!
Orphaned Land are embarking on a big European tour later this year. Direct support will come from Oriental folk metal band Arkan and Tunisian progressive metallers Myrath. Dates for this tour have officially been announced earlier today. You can find them over here.
Oriental folk metal band Arkan will also support Arch Enemy in December. The band has been confirmed as the special guest on all French dates of the Arch Enemy winter tour throughout Europe.
Angelizer, the young melodic death metal outfit hailing from Toulouse, France, plan to release their first full-length album later this year. A tentative release date has been set for September. The follow-up to the 2008 Poison Dreams EP will be called Philosophy With Decibels, and will be released through New Death Records / Necrocosm Productions.
Also long-running French metal acts S.U.P. and Supuration are set to release a new album.
Supuration, the French death metal band, will start the recording process of their new album this summer. Mixing will take place in September. The album will be called Cu3e and is tentatively due in November. Cu3e will conclude the trilogy story started with The Cube and Incubation.
S.U.P., their avantgarde/electronic metal counterpart, will release a new album afterwards. Most of the material for this album has already been written.
Dødheimsgard plan to continue touring. A Paris show is scheduled for November 2 (but not confirmed yet), and the band intend to post future tour dates on their facebook page.

Here is the official statement of the festival with replacement.
"Unfortunately, Unleashed, BlackRain and Masters Of Reality are canceled?
These three bands will be respectively replaced by Primordial, Headcharger and The Damned Things.
The 3 day passes and daily tickets are still available in all of our usual stores and are still at a special price with Digitick through our website www.hellfest.fr
We remind you that bus+ticket packs are still available with buses leaving from cities from all around Europe. Please visit our "Bus-Trip" section!

The legendary Irish hard rockers will be performing on Saturday June 18th along Scorpions, Black Label Society and UFO.
The festival is set to take place June 17-19th in Clisson, France. An up-to-date festival billing is available over here.

Some line up changes for Hellfest 2011 !
Here is the official press release of the festival:
Unfortunately we're sad to announce that two bands are forced to cancel their upcoming appearances at Hellfest 2011.
The first one, and not the least, is Trust. Here is the band's official statement :
"Unfortunately Trust will not be playing on the 18th of June 2011 at Hellfest festival. The band will not be performing any concerts for an indefined period of time. We would like to point out that that it is not linked in any way with the organization of the Hellfest event."
The second cancelation is Lock Up originally scheduled to play Saturday, June 18th under the Rock Hard tent. A problem in their tour schedules has forced the band to cancel this performance.
We apologize for these two changes and we would like to announce the bands who will be replacing them, as well as the 3 surprise acts you were all waiting for!
With great pleasure, we can confirm that In Flames and Down will be playing at Hellfest on June 17th and Dark Tranquillity, Duff Mackagan's Loaded and Static-X will be playing on Sunday, June 19th!
Also note that Angel Witch and Hail Of Bullets will be performing on the Saturday, June 18th, instead of on the Sunday, June 19th as originally planned.
Again we would like to apologize for these line-up changes!

Legendary heavy metallers Judas Priest will be one of the major attractions of the festival, as this will be the band's only farewell show on French soil. And also long-running French rock outfit Trust will treat the fans with a "back to basics" show, only playing songs from their oldest albums.

The countdown started about a week ago is over, so it is time for you to discover the new list of confirmed artists for the next HELLFEST!
As usual the HELLFEST stay in its shoes, eclecticism and taking risks are our watchwords! Extreme music being not limited to any particular style, you will still discover many original bands, real "UFOS", but famous and legendary artists that it is time to discover or rediscover on stage before that it's too late! We promise to surprise you again!
We won't talk about the qualities of each artist's newly confirmed, but you're free to check all the bands this list which shouldn't people indifferent:

The ones who trust us, who believe in the festival and its programming will once again find tickets at ?109 (without booking fees) instead of ?139! This operation is valid until the 1st of January 2011 and / or of 2500 3-day tickets sold. On this occasion, we remind you that last year these packages were sold in just two short weeks ... It is up to you to make the next 25th December, a Christmas "metal"!

We would like to remind you that Hellfest 2011, which will be held on the 17th, 18th and 19th of June, will be the last on these grounds. In 2012, Hellfest will move to a new place... We will not say anything else today but you can expect some great surprises.
Now let's speak about 2011! The start of the festival isn't for tomorrow, but time flies and as always we want to be the first to announce some of the bands which will be playing next summer! Don't expect any headliner today... negotiations are long and complicated, you'll have to be patient but we know that you are real connoisseurs and passionate people and we're sure that you'll like this first list, with bands playing different kind of music!
Once again, Hellfest will respect its ways and will not make any compromises despite the attacks! Punk, sludge, heavy, hardcore and grindcore, etc. in two words, a real festival of extreme music, by passionate people for passionate people!
