Mortal Love - To Take Indefinite Hiatus

Norwegian gothic metal outfit Mortal Love have decided to go on indefinite break after being around for over 10 years and having released 3 studio albums.

The band explained as follows: "After over 10 years together as a band, Mortal Love have decided to take a break - indefinitely.

That means no new music will be released, and no concerts or touring will take place in the foreseeable future. The break might be permamanent - or not. We don't know. All we know is that our passion for creating music through Mortal Love is not where it should be at the moment.

There are many reasons for this, the most important being time restraints due to other engagements in our private lives. We are all still the best of friends, and this decision has been mutual on all parts. This was an extremely difficult decision to make, most of all because we knew so many of you would be disappointed and let down. We can assure you that countless hours of thinking this through and weighing our options went into making this decision.

We want to thank everyone who has supported us and stood by us over the years. Our families, friends, partners in crime and bands we've played with.

Most of all we would like to thank YOU. For your love and undying support, words of encouragement and inspiration to make Mortal Love what it is. But most of all we thank you for making Mortal Love a part of your life. Because of you, Mortal Love will live on - and for that we are eternally grateful.

We will maintain our Facebook page and our Twitter account with sporadic updates. All of us will continue with other music projects, and news of them will be published through the aforementioned channels and on our website.

We would like to repeat again how much your support has meant to us - more than you can EVER imagine. Our lives have been better because of you, and from the very bottom of our hearts we thank you. Maybe we'll see you again - who knows."

Moonspell - New Album Update

Moonspell vocalist Fernando Ribeiro has posted a lengthy update on the whereabouts of the band on Facebook. Here's the important bit you might be interested in:

"The new album proceeds and we will do a second pre-production with Benny Ricther in late July and Mike will record drums for these songs, most likely in Germany. The rest of the album will be tracked bys us and Tue Madsen during the month of August. Once the music is done, we will be able to give a better insight into this new concept and way of making things. Until then we count the days until we are able to match our big words with one of the most exciting collection of songs we ever worked in as composers."

Ribeiro previously revealed that the new Moonspell album's initials are A.N. and that it will tentatively surface in early 2012 through an as-yet-undetermined record label.

Slipknot - Free Webcast Of Sonisphere Show

Slipknot has announced a special real-time webcast of their Knebworth performance via their website to take place during their headline set at 9:00pm GMT (4:00pm Eastern/1:00pm Pacific) on Sunday, July 10th.

To tune in visit Slipknot1.com.

The webcasting of Slipknot's historic Sunday night headline set live across the world from Knebworth, will go out live on Slipknot1.com as well as Sonispherefestivals.com. Set to be an epic and emotional occasion, this highly anticipated show will mark the band's first appearance in the UK in over two years and their first British performance without founding member Paul Gray, who tragically passed away last year.

The band said of the upcoming performance: "England has always been a special place for this band from the very beginning. We can't think of a better way to culminate our celebration of Paul's life than to share it with the Maggots at Knebworth and the millions more watching around the world. This is not to be missed."

Says festival producer Stuart Galbraith: "This is the first time Sonisphere Festival has been transmitted live across the web and represents yet another major stride in its commitment to harnessing the power of the internet to engage with the rock audience at large across the planet. Given that this is going to be such an important event for Slipknot fans the world over, we felt it only right to allow them all to share in what is set to be a historic experience, wherever they are."

The Sonisphere show on July 10 will be the last on this current tour for Slipknot, which is performing for the first time without Gray. The band's future beyond this run of shows is unclear.

Gray passed away in May 2010 from an accidental overdose of drugs, leaving behind his wife Brenna and daughter October, who was born the following August.

Mastodon - Album Cover Artwork Unveiled

Atlanta progressive metallers Mastodon will release their new upcoming album, The Hunter, this October through Reprise Records. You can find the album cover artwork below.

The artwork was created by AJ Fosik, a wood carver who is also responsible for the backdrop the band uses live. This marks the first time Mastodon has not used acclaimed artist Paul Romano, who was responsible for all of the group's previous artwork.

Mastodon recently revealed more song titles for The Hunter. Tracks to appear on the band's follow-up to 2009's Crack The Skye include: "The Hunter: All The Heavy Lifting", "Dry Bone Valley", "Blasteroids", "The Octopus Has No Friends", "Stargasm", and "Curl Of The Burl".

The Hunter was recorded at Doppler Studios in the band's hometown of Atlanta as well as in Los Angeles with producer Mike Elizondo. As with all of their albums, Mastodon decided to take a completely different tack and musical approach to the music on this album. The band feels confident that fans will be excited and fulfilled by what they will hear.

Adultswim.com still has an unreleased Mastodon song, called "Deathbound", available as free download.
