Threshold - "Best Of" Album In November

Threshold will release their first ever "Best Of" collection in November, featuring over 140 minutes of music from all their studio albums plus some previously unreleased radio edits. The album will be released by Threshold's previous label Inside Out Music. The tracklisting for the compilation, entitled "The Ravages Of Time (The Best of Threshold)", was selected by the band in conjunction with the label. "The decision to include the unreleased single edits was because we know there are a lot of fans who are frustrated when there are edits made but not available on CD", commented Richard West. "Of course there wasn't room for everything but between us we thought it was a good overall list."

The artwork (click here) was designed by Thomas Ewerhard, who was responsible for many of Threshold's previous album covers including the iconic Hypothetical and Subsurface. The new cover was originally created for the band's previous album when it had the working title of "Pilot In The Sky Of Dreams". The 24 page booklet will include a new biography written by Trevor Raggatt.

The following message was posted on Helloween's official website:

"Gambling With The Devil" out on October 29th, 2007
Limited first edition featuring bonus CD and scratch ticket
Single download from September 28th, 2007

Helloween were busy working on their latest album until the end of August, now the band are ready to release details about "Gambling With The Devil": The regular album consists of eleven songs (plus an intro, spoken by Saxon's Biff Byford) with a total playing time of 57:40 minutes. For their many faithful fans, there will also be a limited first edition (40,000 units in a Digipak with an embossed and stamped slipcase to be released in Europe, and 10,000 units in a jewel case in the US) with a bonus CD featuring two extra tracks, the video supporting the first single 'As Long As I Fall', and a 'making-of' of the video, including interview sequences. As a special highlight, the first edition includes a scratch ticket with an exciting puzzle, as described in detail on the Helloween homepage. The solution to the puzzle allows you to register at www.helloween.org and take part in a draw with a sensational first prize: The lucky winner will receive a trip for two to a Helloween show in America - including flight, accommodation at the band hotel, backstage tickets, and of course a personal meeting with the band! There are also signed Gibson/Epiphone guitars and great fan packs to be won.

This unusual competition is the band's way to thank their fans for the success of their Keeper Of The Seven Keys - The Legacy album and their sensational 2005/2006 world tour.

Helloween are currently on a promotional tour to launch their new album and will soon start preparations for their extensive world tour, which will take them through the whole of Europe, Southeast Asia and the US from November 2007.

A few days ago, the impressive video clip to support Helloween's 'As Long As I Fall' single was shot at Munich's AVA studios (who were also in charge of the 'Light The Universe' video).

Downloads of the audio version of 'As Long As I Fall' (including cover) will be available worldwide for download from September 28th, 2007.

Carcass - Will Reunite For A Tour

Former Carcass guitarist Mike Amott (currently in Arch Enemy) has revealed that the legendary U.K. death metal band might reunite for a tour.

In an exclusive interview with Sweden's Close-Up magazine, Amott said that he and guitarist/vocalist Bill Steer secretly met in Halmstad, Sweden last year to rehearse old Carcass material. A couple of months later, they were joined by vocalist/bassist Jeff Walker for another practice session. Arch Enemy's Daniel Erlandsson was handling the drum duties at these rehearsals.

"It sounded really good and it was a lot of fun," said Amott. "We rehearsed pretty much the entire 'Heartwork' album ."

The original plan was for Carcass to play several festival shows this summer, but that fell through.

"I hope we can do some reunion shows at a later date," explained Amott. "It would be a lot of fun and I'd love to play the songs live again. Unfortunately, it can't happen until 18 months from now, at the earliest, because Arch Enemy has a totally full schedule. It's different for the other guys who don't work as actively on their music careers."

Have you discussed writing new songs?

"To write something new seems unnecessary. People still only want to hear the old stuff," said Amott.

After the "Heartwork" tour, Mike Amott left Carcass. The band then released the appropriately titled album "Swansong" (1996).

What did you think of "Swansong" when it came out?

"I wasn't a fan of it," Mike replied. "But we actually rehearsed a couple of songs from it last year and they sounded pretty good. I think the production partly ruined it. It sounded sparse and basically all the extreme stuff that characterized Carcass was gone. It felt boring."

Have the other members of Carcass heard Arch Enemy?

"Jeff has flat-out said that he thinks we suck," Amott stated. "Bill is not into that kind of music. I think the guys left the metal world as it was in the middle of the '90s and haven't thought about it since. It seems they think it's a little bizarre that I'm still doing the metal thing full-on."

Original Carcass drummer Ken Owen suffered a brain hemorrhage in 1999 and was hospitalized for ten months, slowly emerging from a coma.

"Ken is doing fine today, but he's not a metal drummer," Amott explained. "He's not capable of playing entire concerts with an extreme band like Carcass. I still hope that he, if we do a tour, will travel with us and play a couple of songs each night."

Hatesphere - Part Ways With Vocalist & Cancel European Tour

The following message has been posted on the band's official website:

"As a result of personal issues, HateSphere and vocalist Jacob Bredahl have parted ways. This has been in the air for a little while now and is without doubt, the best decision for the band. Having to tour with a person who's not able to give it one hundred percent in the future and vice versa is pointless. We'd like to thank Jacob for 10 years of hard work and good times, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours! This may come as a shock for many of you but we can only emphasize that HateSphere will continue and are already in the midst of auditioning new singers.

In effect of this and some unanticipated, economical circumstances, we have been forced to cancel our upcoming European tour with Dimmu Borgir and Amon Amarth. We are very sorry for that but have seen no other solution, as it would be too difficult to find a new singer in only ten days. The gigs we have after the tour will not be affected by this, and we promise you all to come back soon and make it up to you.

Jacob and Pepe have always been a part of what is called HateSphere, so no question that this is also weird for the rest of the band. As you probably know, Pepe has always been writing practically all the music, so as far as that matter goes, it shouldn't mean that much. Also, the song writing for the next album is about to start and we are looking forward to work together as a new and revitalized group.

We know all you fans will have tons of questions but what's been said here explains everything, so please refrain from asking questions regarding this subject. Jacob left on amicable terms and we are simply moving on. We realize this has to be weird for you guys, to see almost the entire band being replaced just within three months, but there's no other way and we have so much more music in us, so why stop now? Hopefully you will respect our decisions and support us in the future - We are still here and will be back sooner than you think, to kick you in the ass!

See you all on the road soon!

Cheers,
HateSphere"
