Jon Zazula, who co-founded longtime independent record label Megaforce Records with his late wife Marsha back in 1982, has passed away at the age of 69. Megaforce released the first two Metallica albums, Kill 'Em All and Ride The Lightning. The label also put out the Anthrax's debut album, Fistful Of Metal, in 1984. Some of other metal acts that have collaborated with the label: Overkill, Ministry, Testament, Mercyful Fate.

Reunited British thrashers Hydra Vein announced on their Facebook page recently that they will enter the studio this summer to commence recording their long-awaited third album, which will be their first since 1989's After The Dream. They have also revealed that, other than founding members Dan Ranger (guitar) and Damon Maddison (bass), the lineup for the record includes James Manley-Bird (vocals), Henry Pol (guitar), Jonas Voorspoels (guitar) and John den Buitelaar (drums). Heavy metal unity Die Apokalyptischen Reiter are getting ready to release Wilde Kinde, their next full length album due out on April 22, 2022. The official successor to Der Rote Reiter (2017) was recorded and mixed at Chameleon Studios in Hamburg. Mixing and mastering was handled by by Eike Freese. In addition to this announcement, the band have also released a music video for the title track of the album. Video directed by Dariusz Szermanowicz (Grupa13).
