Decadence - Part Ways With Guitarist

Official press release

It's been a while since you last heard from us. We have an announcement to make before we can move on with more news.

Niklas Skogqvist on 2nd guitar decided to leave the band last month. We have not yet decided if we will continue as a quartet. In fact, our music is more technically suited for two guitarists and we might therefore need a second guitarist again. Decadence is down to its solid quartet and we'll see which turn we take after that.

Nicke felt that he had too many things going on in his life. He said Decadence needs a guitarist that gives 100% which he says he was not able to do.

Some of his own words: "I want you all to know that I've had an awesome experience with you. I have had so much fun during these two years and I really wish I could go on with it. I've always enjoyed being with you, both as musicians by my side and as four best buddies. Missing you already, and of course, this decision consists of many emotions. But as I said, it's been a blast being with you and you're awesome at what you do. So a big tribute to you, I know you will go far with this, and knowing you, you will never give up. I wish the best for you because you are the best"

We in Decadence wish Nicke the very best in the future and we feel with all our fans who believed in this line-up.

Devin Townsend - European Tour Announced

After announcing 6 UK dates for coming March 2011 already, The Devin Townsend Project now announces a full blown European tour which will see the band playing 25 shows in 13 different countries.

Mr Townsend, being hard at work to put the final touches to the upcoming albums Ghost and Deconstruction (both tentatively scheduled for a May release), commented: "After another busy, busy, year, we have set ourselves up for an even busier one... and to be honest, I wouldn't have it any other way. I have just recently finished Ghost (record 4, the mellow one) and am currently up to my balls in Deconstruction (record 3, the heavy one... for which we are using the Prague Symphony Orchestra to make more ridiculous than it really needs to be ) and I've yet to get my goddamn garage cleaned, so yeah... things are busy. I love it.

So I'd like to announce a European tour... it will be the first tour of many we are doing in 2011 and it starts March 3rd in the UK. It hits a bunch of spots in Europe, including some places I've never played but have always wanted to. I'm really, really, excited to play again, and we will bring new music as well as some special acoustic performances. The people who support it have been so gracious that it's a real pleasure to announce this. See you next year guys! I'll bring my gnarliest teeth and lumpiest head!"

The band is set to perform a mixture of tracks from all four DTP albums and the Dutch and Finns will get a real treat as long time friend and main guest vocalist on 2009´s Addicted record, Anneke van Giersbergen (The Gathering) will be joining the band on the last four dates of the tour to share vocal duties with Devin. Tickets will go on sale coming Friday, December 10th.

March 03 - The Brook, Southampton, United Kingdom
March 04 - The Fleece, Bristol, United Kingdom
March 05 - Rock City, Nottingham, United Kingdom
March 06 - Academy 2, Manchester, United Kingdom
March 07 - Garage, Glasgow, United Kingdom
March 09 - Grunspan, Hamburg, Germany
March 10 - Voxhall, Århus, Denmark

Einherjer - Signs With Indie Recordings

Indie Recordings is proud to announce the signing of Einherjer.

Official press release: Legendary Viking Metal act Einherjer have signed to Indie Recording for the release of their comeback album due out in the spring of 2011.
Einherjer was one of the very first bands to use the Viking thematic and the Norse mythology in metal, and are one of the founders of this now widely acclaimed metal sub-genre.

Their name also origins from the Norse mythology as Einherjer is a vikings life after death. When a viking was slained in battle, he was brought up to Valhalla by the Valkyries, for then to join the army of Einherjers and help the Gods in their clash against the Giants in the age of Ragnarok.

Einherjer disbanded in 2004 after the release of their album Blot through Tabu Recordings. Einherjer was gone until 2008 when they announced their return to the live scene, and in 2009 they played the Wacken, Ragnarock, Kaltenbach and some selected dates on the Paganfest 09 tour. Einherjer is currently finishing up their 5th studio album, still in the spirit of their previous releases.

Einherjer on the signing: "Finally, after a long wait, we're very proud to announce that we have chosen the most dedicated, enthusiastic and hard working label to release our next albums... Indie Recordings! To work with this level of professionalism is something we've always emphasized, and Indie Recordings has shown through the years that they can deliver. This will be the start of a new chapter for us and we look into the future with great expectations and a great deal of excitement. We do it our way... we always have and always will!

More details on the upcoming album and live shows will be announced shortly.

Clandestine Cuts #3 Now Out! Big News! Big Changes!

Ok, so it's time for the scheduled (almost) monthly Clandestine Cuts! This month features Razorwyre, Disintegrated, Everfailed, Apsis, Magrudergrind, Gallowbraid and Catuvolcus. Go read it here.

Now, you're probably wondering what the big changes are to this issue? Well, it's quite simple; we're giving you! Yes, you! Some more power regarding the MetalStorm awards. We've attached a poll to the bottom of the article, where you get to vote for what you think is the best demo, EP, or single from that issue. The top 6 chosen will be nominated in the 2010 MetalStorm awards under a new category!

During the MS awards, we experience some of our highest traffic all year. Now, a nomination in the MetalStorm awards may not mean all that much to a band like Iron Maiden, but some massive exposure in the awards may be huge news for some of these bands that just need to get their name out there. Think a certain band has got that sound that more people should hear? Show it! Give them a vote!

Also, we have edited the poll into the previous articles, so be sure to go back (issue #1 - issue #2) and vote there as well!

- The 'Storm Crew

P.S. - You may also be wondering why only 6 will be nominated, as opposed to the regular 10 per category. This is simply because only 4 issues will be out by the time the 2010 Awards roll around, not creating enough competition to judge a worthy nominee by. We'll bump it up to 10 next year.
