Devildriver - New Album Details

Original news, published on 25.10.2010

Roadrunner Records press release

Devildriver announced today the release of their forthcoming fifth album, Beast. Beast was produced by Mark Lewis (All That Remains, Trivium, The Black Dahlia Murder) and will hit retail via longtime label Roadrunner Records on February 22, 2011.

While many bands in the modern era are already withering away by their second album and have shriveled up and died by their third, DevilDriver have proven to mutate, growing stronger, deadlier and more immortal with each successive release. Beast, which follows 2009's Pray For Villains, finds the band refusing to compromise in their mission to deliver music that will make you feel as though you were slapped upside the head with a baseball bat. The band recorded 14 songs during the Beast sessions, with 11 or 12 tracks expected to make the final cut. Some song titles are as follows: "Dead to Rights," "Hardened," "Bring The Fight (To the Floor)," "Shitlist," "Talons Out (Teeth Sharpened)," "Blur," "You Make Me Sick (Sacred Secrets)," "The Blame Game," "Coldblooded, "Crowns Of Creation" and "Lend Myself to the Night."

Frontman Dez Fafara himself dubbed the record their most "extreme" to date and even compared Beast to "driving a Buick Skylark 200 miles an hour straight to Vegas" in an exclusive studio report in this month's Revolver.

UPDATE

US metallers Devildriver have revealed the cover artwork of their forthcoming album, entitled Beast.

Due on February 22, 2011 via Roadrunner Records, Beast was recorded at Sonic Ranch studios in Tornillo, Texas with producer Mark Lewis (Trivium, Chimaira, All That Remains) and is currently being mixed by British producer Andy Sneap (Megadeth, Exodus, Machine Head, Nevermore, Arch Enemy) at his Backstage studio in Derbyshire, England.

Kampfar - Guitarist Leaves The Band

Norwegian metallers Kampfar have parted ways with guitarist Thomas. His statement on the matter reads as follows:

"After playing guitar in Kampfar for quite a few years, I have now decided to leave the band. I cannot even begin to sum up all the good times I've had together with my bandmates, and our close friendship will surely continue outside of the context of the band.

I sincerely hope the guys will find another guitarist to play in the band (the riffs are not that hard to play and there are no solos, which could be seen as a plus or a minus depending on perspective). On the stage, you'll only need to pay attention to Ask, since he knows how to keep in time. It is also best to watch out for Jon and Dolk as they are maniacs and will not stand still for a moment.

To all the good people I've met through Kampfar, take care and I'll see you around. For my brothers in the band, my love and respect as always."

Spawn Of Possession - Part Ways With Drummer, Replacement Announced

Swedish metallers Spawn Of Possession have issued the following update on their MySpace blog:

"We regret to inform you that we have released Richard Shill of his drumming duties in Spawn Of Possession. Reason being is that Richard depends very much on actual band practice and with Spawn Of Possession members being scattered all over Sweden, Norway and Germany band practice becomes an impossibility. This decision is in no way a reflection on Richards skills as a drummer or his personality as he will always remain part of the Spawn Of Possession family. We wish him all the best with his ongoing and future endeavors in music.

To fill the gap after Richard we have recruited Henrik Schönström to take over the percussive side of the band. Right now Henrik is preparing for the recording of the next album and we welcome him to the camp."

Neuraxis - New Album Cover Art Revealed

Official press release

Quebecois metallers Neuraxis have unveiled the cover of their upcoming album, Asylon, which will be released in North America on February 15th, 2011.

The cover art was created by artist Dennis Sibeijn of Damnengine Artwork, who worked with the band on their previous album, The Thin Line Between, as well with Job For A Cowboy, Chimaira and more. Asylon was recorded at Wildsound Studio with producer Chris Donaldson (Cryptopsy, The Last Felony, The Agonist). Prosthetic has launched the pre-order for the album, at its official webstore.

Vocalist Alex Leblanc commented on the cover: "So here is the cover for Asylon. As many of you will see, it is very different from all our previous album covers. Since the lyrics and the music are so connected on the new record, we wanted the cover to represent perfectly the vibe... dark, visceral and heavy. We used a lot of dark green to represent the sick/poisonous mood of the lyrics."

Ava Inferi - New Album Details

Season Of Mist press release

The fourth album of atmospheric metallers Ava Inferi is entitled Onyx and has been scheduled for a February 14th, 2011 release (one day later in the US).

Onyx cover art] tracklist:

01. Onyx
02. The Living End
03. A Portal
04. ((Ghostlights))
05. Majesty
06. The Heathen Island
07. By Candlelight & Mirrors
08. Venice In Fog

Guitarist Rune Eriksen commented on the artwork: "(Witch)Crafted and dragged into sunlight by Costin Chioreanu / Twilight13Media (Absu, Grave, Demonical), this illustration portraits a more eerie visual side of Ava Inferi than our previous arts. A mysterious and sinister approach to Ava Inferi's aesthetics indeed. I really feel that it connects with the album on a musical and lyrical level too, as it is creating some sort of a window into the fields of the inspirations behind this new offering. We have always dwelled in the more obscure side of things, and even though we have weaved an occasional Wiccan flame or Bacchanalian praise into our arts, we've always cherished and explored the aspects of "horror". With Onyx we have definitely gone deeper into it. Anyway, Costin (who also did the clip for "Last Sign Of Summer") has really done a great job, and we are thankful and grateful for the dedication and hard work he put into this work. Multumesc foarte mult!"

The Project Hate MCMXCIX - New Album Details

Official press release

Industrial death metallers The Project Hate MCMXCIX's new album Bleeding The New Apocalypse (Cum Victriciis In Manibus Armis) will hit the stores on next February 14th (one day later in the US).

Bleeding The New Apocalypse (Cum Victriciis In Manibus Armis) cover art] tracklist:

01. Iesus Nazarenus, Servus Mei
02. They Shall All Be Witnesses
03. A Revelation Of Desecrated Heavens
04. Summoning Majestic War
05. The Serpent Crowning Ritual
06. Bring Forth Purgatory

"So, you have digested the title for a while", mainman Lord K. Philipson comments. "Now it's time for the cover. Artist Marko Saarelainen (who you all should hire to do your artwork or websites by the way) has once again dug deep into his disturbed mind and fired up an incredibly fitting work of art to go with the title. Just look at it, check out all the small details and have the title in mind... Taste it... Bleeding The New Apocalypse (Cum Victriciis In Manibus Armis)... That's what you are in for this time. The darkness of the music on this piece is perfectly reflected in Marko's artwork. There is a slight twist to this cover, perhaps you will see it, perhaps you won't. Just acknowledge the fact that in a bunch of weeks you will have the chance to support The Hate and Season Of Mist by actually buying this masterpiece and go thru the incredibly good looking booklet that comes with it. Marko's outdone himself in that area as well, not just with the cover As Dark Angel once put it... Darkness descends. You are now beginning to watch it, piece by piece."
