Amoral - Part Ways With Guitarist, Replacement Announced

Finnish metallers Amoral have issued the following update on their MySpace blog:

"For the past months it has been unclear whether or not Silver would continue in the band, and now he has made up his mind to leave. Apparently he didn't feel motivated enough to be part of Amoral anymore, as well as wanting to concentrate on other things in life.

As bothersome as it is to lose a band member we've been working with since the very beginning, we're not going to let this affect our own enthusiasm and the future of Amoral. Valtteri Hirvonen will be our "permanent stand-in guitarist" for the time being, so he'll be joining us on gigs and helping out with the songwriting process (he did a great job on the European tour by the way, so we're more than happy to have the guy with us).

So, all the best for Silver in the future, and towards new adventures with Amoral!"

A message from Silver reads: "I would like to thank the guys for dedication and determination throughout the years and making things happen. I treasure the experiences and miles travelled. I hope nothing but the best for Amoral and raise my thumbs up to Valtteri Hirvonen for stepping up to the challenge!"

Armored Saint - New Album Details Revealed

Original news, posted on 24.11.2009

Armored Saint bassist Joey Vera has issued the following update on his MySpace blog:

"After 6 weeks, the new Armored Saint record is done. Well, not entirely... We still have to have it mastered which should be done in the next 2 weeks. So technically, there's plenty of time for more arbitrary bouts of stress. But all of the tunes have been recorded and mixed. And I have the dark circles under my eyes to prove it!

As the producer of the record, I did in fact work very long and hard on this. But I didn't work alone. Everyone involved worked their asses off. Gonzo, John, Phil and Jeff all came in and gave it everything. Engineer Bryan Carlstrom and his assistant John Nuss were the work horses who kept up the pace in this session which for the most part meant putting in 12 - 14 hour days. I can't say enough about Bryan, Nuss and Annette Cisneros from Tranzformer Studios in ...Burbank... This is a first class operation and to boot, they all gave heart and soul into the project which these days you just cannot even pay for. We are in much debt with them. Truly wonderful people.

The result is just amazing, and I may be hasty when I say that this may be our best record ever. But all dopes in bands say that right? Well this time I think it's true and although my reasons may be purely personal, I still deem it truth. The songs are great and it sounds great. The title of our new record is La Raza which means, "The Race".

For all of you tech nerds out there, a few quick bits on how we made this one: We used nothing but analog gear, most of which was custom built by Rupert Neve for Bryan Carlstrom. We hit every signal (drum mics, guitars, vocals) with custom or vintage analog gear before recording into Pro Tools. We even used rare vintage amps for most of the guitar overdubs. At mix time, we mixed on an SSL 4000E console and went to a 1 inch tape reel (one of only 2 on the west coast) for our final masters. Uh?. you do know what tape is, don't you?

What does this all mean? It means we spit in the ear of the age of the Mp3, teenie, tiny ear bud listening culture that has turned it's back on what it means to experience music. This record is fat. We means, Obese! Full on cardiovascular failure stuff! Old School, Baby!

We are finishing up the other crap that goes with making records. Photo shoots, CD artwork (you do know what a CD is still, right?), mastering, the running order of the tunes. After that, we wait until it is released. I'm told it's coming out in March 2010 on Metal Blade Records.

Primordial - DVD Details, Trailer Online

Original news, posted on 07.01.2010

A trailer for Primordial's forthcoming DVD release, All Empires Fall, has been posted online.

The All Empires Fall DVD is due out via Metal Blade Records in March, and will feature footage shot at the band's January 24th, 2009 show at the Button Factory in Dublin, Ireland, as well as documentary footage.

A limited edition set will include bonus features and a bonus audio CD. Further details to follow.

UPDATE

Official press release

Irish Pagan masters Primordial will release their first ever DVD All Empires Fall on February 28th / March 1st 2010 via Metal Blade in Europe. It will be a DVD-set containing two discs full of quality material.

Disc 1 is the centrepiece of the DVD and features a full Primordial headline show recorded live on the 24th of January, 2009 in their hometown of Dublin, Ireland. The show was filmed with five cameras and has an exceptional vintage look due to the hard work in post production. A truly impressive and powerful live gig, exciting from start to finish in front of die hard Primordial audience and a perfect sound track that is available in stereo and 5.1.

Disc 2 features live clips from the bands appearances at Ragnarok Festival (Germany), Hove Festival (Norway) and Graspop Metal Meeting (Belgium) in 2008. The second disc also features a band documentary with all the inside stories and loads of ancient footage from the early stages of the band. The documentary has a playing time of approx. 60 minutes. Interviews with all band members and rehearsal footage complete the second disc of the set!

The special Deluxe version of All Empires Fall features expanded packaging and two additional audio CDs featuring the Dublin show!

Here´s what singer A.A. Nemtheanga has to say about All Empires Fall: "...the gods have been working hard dogging the release of our first DVD All Empires Fall but finally we are ready to prevail. The DVD will contain our Dublin show from last year, a documentary and bonus material from recent festivals. The special edition will contain the audio discs of the Dublin show, so you can hear how some old classics are played now, some almost two decades after writing.

So how does it look? The simple answer is and without exaggeration possibly one of the best Metal live shows I've ever seen. We filmed it on analog reels, cut it with frightening pace and mixed it up with some very unconventional camera angles. It has the feel of a classic show from the late 70s not the clean, clinical digital vacuum most modern shows are filmed in. We also invested a lot of time, money and effort so don't expect one of those free recordings most festivals and soundstages offer. As normal we didn't do anything conventionally so there are no boring balcony stills or side of stage montages. No overdubs, auto tuning or drop ins we are proud that All Empires Fall shows us as we are and as a Primordial show always is. Blood and thunder and no quarter given from start to finish..."

Sarkom - Part Ways With Drummer

To replace Renton's seat behind the drums, we have found our longtime friend J. Folkedal, which also handled the drums on our last tour. If he will join the band as a pemanent member is still undecided, but as for now, he will join the force at all our upcoming live performances!

We are very grateful for all the work and effort Renton has put into this band and wish him all the best for the future!"
