Secrets Of The Moon - New Album In The Works

German Black metallers Secrets Of The Moon are working on new material, so an update on the band's MySpace reads:

"I started working on on the follow-up of Privilegivm (working title: Seven Bells). We are going to enter the studio in summer 2010. I feel it will become a very special album for the band. Much is going to change, much is getting even deeper and disruptive. We are alive.

Moreover I worked on some special releases with Stefan Belda (Prophecy Productions). People might not believe in the releases of Antithesis and The Ambience Of A Dead Star on our all-beloved format any longer but it's going to happen soon. And there's even one more oddity to be released. Everything occurs at the right time."

In other news, the band's live guitarist Michael "Arioch" Zech (ex-Negură Bunget, live Dordeduh) has joined the band as a full-time member of the band.

"After nearly 60 shows with this guy we can assure that he's the right person for this job. We always wanted the band to be complete again but we were careful. He went through a lot of highs and lows, through darkness and light with us. He succeeded and became a grand fellow. The time has come to offer him a permanent position within our circle. Welcome!"

Sanctuary - Albums To Be Re-Issued On Single CD

On March 8, Ironbird via Cherry Red Records will re-issue Sanctuary's first two albums ? 1987's Refuge Denied, produced by Dave Mustaine of Megadeth; and 1990's Into The Mirror Black, produced by Howard Benson ? on a single CD.

Refuge Denied contains a great version of Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit". Into The Mirror Black, Sanctuary's second and final album, is an overlooked masterpiece, blurring the lines between technical, Bay Area-style thrash, traditional heavy metal and European power metal.

Singer Warrel Dane and bassist James Sheppard went on to extend Sanctuary's ambition and songwriting sensibilities into the band Nevermore.

Gravdal - Shining Vocalist To Make Guest Appearance On New Album

Shining vocalist Niklas "Kvarforth" Olsson has recorded vocals for a track on the forthcoming Torturmantra album from Norwegian Black Metallers Gravdal. The track, "Mishandlet", was recorded in Sweden at the Erebus Odora studios and produced by Peter Bjärgö. Torturmantra, is due for release on Unexploded Records in early 2010, and will be the second full-length album from Gravdal, whose debut album Sadist was released in 2008.

According to the band, Torturmantra will be a huge step forward in Gravdal's development: "You will still be able to find the madness that was apparent on Sadist but our song writing skills have developed considerably since we produced that album, and our new material has much more depth and variety to it, both in sound and concept. Kvarforth's handling of the vocals on the "Mishandlet" track caught us completely by surprise. It's a very different song for us, more along the lines of a Black Metal "ballad", and his whole approach to it, and his delivery, is amazing. The track deals with abuse, and he conjures up a terrifying atmosphere of pain and suffering".

Torturmantra is produced by Enslaved's Herbrand Larsen, and recorded by Larsen, Bjørnar E. Nilsen (Vulture Industries, Black Hole Generator) and Arve Isdal (Enslaved, Audrey Horne) at their Conclave and Earshot Studios in Bergen.

Gravdal are touring Europe in April, supporting Gorgoroth and Keep Of Kalessin.

More information about Gravdal can be found at http://www.myspace.com/gravdal.
