Mantic Ritual - Part Ways With Vocalist/Guitarist, Temporary Replacement Announced

Official press release

Pittsburgh-based old school metalheads Mantic Ritual just announced the departure of founding member/singer/guitarist Dan Wetmore.

All scheduled shows will take place as planned.

The band issued the following statement: "After much consideration, Dan has decided to no longer continue with Mantic Ritual. We are greatly appreciative of his tremendous contributions to the band and wish him the best in his future endeavors. For the upcoming tours this fall, our good friend, Dave Watson, will be filling in as singer/guitarist. We've known Dave for quite some time, and besides being a killer musician, he's an outstanding sound engineer as well (he mixed our 2007 self-released demo, "Executioner"). We have no doubt that Dave will be a perfect fit for us these next few months, and that the band will continue delivering fist-pumping rock 'n roll like it's 1955."

Commented Dan Wetmore: "It has been hard for me to make this decision as I love Adam, Ben, and Jeff and the music we've made together. I've always been dedicated to the band and truly enjoyed playing and writing material. Still, I've had the desire to focus on photography for quite some time and I don't see myself spending life on the road. It is my personal choice to leave the band and return to school. Despite conflicting feelings, I know currently, this is the best decision for me. The outcome is very hard to face, as I've enjoyed the past five years and progress we've made. I'm sure some might think I'm crazy or stupid, but I'll eat that. The guys are dedicated and I'm positive they'll do well with Dave taking my place. All the best to them, they're my pals."

Finntroll - Sign With Century Media Records

Official press release

Finntroll, Century Media Records and King Foo Entertainment announce the signing of a worldwide deal to unleash the next three Finntroll albums.

Jens Prueter, Head of A&R at Century Media Europe: "We are proud to sign Finntroll worldwide to Century Media Records. We started working with them in 2001 when we licensed "Jaktens Tid" and the following two albums from their previous label Spinefarm for release in Germany, Benelux and North America. Since then we became good friends going through great times like a massive co-headline show at Wacken 2006 (to be seen on the "Ur Jordens Djup" bonus DVD), the experience of a Fisherman's Friend Vodka Cocktail and many other great moments blurred by further alcohol abuse. And we also went through bad times like Teemu "Somnium" Raimorantas funeral, the day we had to bring Tundra to a doctor because his infected feet was already smelling bad and the Earthshaker Roadshock Tour 2007 that was cancelled after a few shows because of disastrous organisation. Apart from that, we just love Finntroll for their unique dark blend of traditional Finnish hoedown-music and folky black metal. There are only a few bands in metal that have such a unique style and we can't wait to hear the upcoming album. Kippis!"

Finntroll adds: "Yeah, that's right peeps. We're most enthusiastic to announce our signing with Century Media Records. We decided to continue our long co-op with Century Media, thanks to Jens 'very special' Prueter and Mr. Rosie of King Foo. Finntroll felt it's time to work directly with Century Media this time as we have all the trust with them and they have never let us down in the past. Our new album will be released worldwide through Century Media in early 2010, and with that said we're gonna do some heavy touring, that's gonna start in February in Europe and after that we're gonna sail across the ocean to North America. See ya on the road!"

Evile - Three New Songs Online

Evile has posted three preview tracks from their new album online. Songs are called "Nosophoros", "Now Demolition" and "Infected Nations". Head over to the band's MySpace page to check them out.

"Infected Nations" is scheduled for release on September 21 in Europe (September 22 in North America) via Earache Records.

Evile lead guitarist Ol Drake commented about the first track "Infected Nation": "Finally, we can show you a track off the upcoming album "Infected Nations", funnily enough the first track being "Infected Nation". It's been very hard to pick out just one track to initially show the world, as there is such diversity on this album and I wanted to showcase the different direction we're going in. I think "Infected Nation" is a good place to start in showing you, as it still has the pure thrash feel to it but with an injection of our new path musically."

More details about "Infected Nations" were previously reported at this location.

Redemption - New Song Online

US metallers Redemption have posted online a new song, "Black And White World", on their MySpace page.

"Black And White World" comes off the band's forthcoming album, "Snowfall On Judgment Day", which is scheduled for release on September 28 in Europe (October 6 in US/Canada) via Inside Out Music.

Nicolas van Dyk comments: "We're very excited for the release of our fourth CD. We've continued to push the envelope of our unique combination of aggression and melody and the result is our heaviest and also our most melodic CD to date. There's a healthy variety in the songwriting, ranging from very heavy tracks to more 'proggy' songs, all of which share the melodic focus and emotional urgency that make our signature sound. We've had the opportunity to play a lot more together prior to the recording of "Snowfall On Judgment Day" and I think the band is both organic sounding and tighter than ever. It's a record we're really proud of and we're glad to get it in the hands of our fans."

"Snowfall On Judgment Day" cover art] tracklist:

01. Peel
02. Walls
03. Leviathan Rising
04. Black And White World
05. Unformed
06. Keep Breathing
07. Another Day Dies
08. What Will You Say
09. Fistfull Of Sand
10. Love Kills Us All / Life In One Day

Detonation - Will Enter The Studio This Weekend

Detonation will begin recording their 4th studio album this weekend. Vocalist Koen Romeijn states:

"This weekend, Michiel (a.k.a. "Plicht") will kick off the pre-production of our 4th studio album. He's got the weekend scheduled to record all the drum tracks for 9 new, brutal songs. In the producers' chair we have our good friend Harry van Breda (I-Chaos).

After this, Michiel will start touring across the world with God Dethroned until mid November. So in the meantime, we will work on the recordings, and get this thing rolling again. Can't wait to get into that whole recording process again, it's been almost 3 years since we recorded "Emission Phase", so it's about time goddamnit!

So what can I tell you about the new stuff? Well, first of all it's fucking brutal! You could say that we changed our sound into something new. It still has Detonation written all over it, but this stuff is way more intense, faster, more metal and just better sounding than before. Michiel's drums are sick, Mike's riffs even sicker, and my vocals the sickest I have ever produced haha!

Some of the songtitles are "Feeding On The Madness", "Ruptured", "Insults To My Heritage" and "The Thirst To Slaughter". Stay tuned for more news!"

Scar Symmetry - New Album Details Revealed

Scar Symmetry have announced the tracklist of their upcoming masterpiece "Dark Matter Dimensions":

01. The Iconoclast
02. The Consciousness Eaters
03. Noumenon And Phenomenon
04. Ascension Chamber
05. Mechanical Soul Cybernetics
06. Non-Human Era
07. Dark Matter Dimensions
08. Sculptor Void
09. A Parenthesis In Eternity
10. Frequency-Shifter
11. Radiant Strain
12. Pariah

Drummer Henrik Ohlsson also commented on the choice of the album title and its artwork: "The album title came from the scientific fact that you can't see at least 95% of the universe and despite that fact we behave like we know everything there is to know. We trust our eyes even though they give us a very limited range of perception and we dismiss things because they seem to defy our narrow and cynical sense of logic. The title "Dark Matter Dimensions" stands for an appreciation and acknowledgement of the unseen worlds and dimensions, because without the existence of these unseen forces our physical universe would never be able to exist. These so-called "Dark Matter Dimensions", a term I use for everything unseen, orchestrates everything our eyes are allowed to see. And you can bring this down to a personal level aswell, from the macrocosmic to the microcosmic, and realize that our appearance stands for a small percentage of who we are. At least 95% of what we are consists of consciousness, thoughts, feelings and other unseen activities. So the term "Dark Matter Dimensions" applies on both macrocosmic and microcosmic levels. As above, so below.

As for the artwork I view at as a peak into a possible dark matter dimension, a surreal planetary body that defies our sense of what a planet looks like. Spontaneously I come think of it as a symbolic version of the current state of the earth."

The album is set to be released on October 2nd via Nuclear Blast.

Assailant - Keyboardist Leaves The Band

At the beginning of the week, Swedish metallers Assailant have posted the following statement about the departure of keyboardist Peder Sandström:

"Some sad but healthy news for all of ya. Our keyboard player Peder Sandström has decided to leave the band due to the lack of interest. And of course we feel that it's a damn shame and a bit sad but we are happy for his sake. It is never easy to leave something you've invested so much time in, but then again, one should never force oneself to stay just because. Be well man and we hope all the best for ya!"

The creative force behind the genre-defying, legendary metal titans Fear Factory, guitarist Dino Cazares, has returned with a mind-blowing, scathing new offering that shatters the boundaries of conventionality with unrelenting intensity, precision and speed.

This new offering from Cazares' extreme metal juggernaut Divine Heresy also features one of the genre's most acclaimed drummers, Tim Yeung (ex-Nile, Vital Remains), bassist Joe Payne (ex-Nile) and newcomer vocalist Travis Neal (ex-The Bereaved, Pushed).

This pummeling new offering, "Bringer Of Plagues", which is set for a July 28th North American release, redefines the meaning of aggression and takes extreme to an all new level. Neal has undoubtedly proven that he is the perfect fit for the role as he delivers a debut performance for the ages.

We all had a collective desire to take our performances to the next level with this release to undoubtedly prove that we are one of the most devastating bands in the scene today. This is most evident on the opening cut 'Face Breaker,' which we can't wait for all of you to hear. Check it out and drop us a message to let us know what you think of it. We will see you all soon."
