A new Kamelot? I know that all the Power Metal fans are awaiting it? After the great "Epica", which is one of the best albums of the style, it was really hard for the Americans to do something amazing like this precedent album, but impossible is definitely not equal to Kamelot. You understand me very well, they did it, Kamelot certainly just produced their best album so far, no doubts for me?

To be honest with you, another review of this fine piece of Metal isn't really necessary, since Jeff's review told you exactly how good this album really is.
But that's also the reason why I thought I should write down a few of my thoughts about it and post it as a second opinion review here.

"The Black Halo" will continue the concept of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's opus, which started with "Epica".

Definetly one of the best albums ever, if not the best.

Beautiful piece of music this album is. None of their albums even comes close (sorry, Karma). There's just something about this album that is totally magical. Perfect length, perfect flow, perfect all around.

Whilst everyone praises the Black Halo for cementing Kamelot's place in the hall of music greats i think i weirdly prefer Epica, the first half of this double act. However TBH builds on the that beggining to produce some truly powerful moments that have been rarely matched by anyone else, or even themselves, since

I am not a big fan of symphonic power metal or even power metal bcoz i find very cheesy materials with many of the bands. Somehow i find Kamelot little different in their style with epic melodies which are not just first impressions. This album has tracks with more than half of them getting repeated for years but still wanted to listen to.

In the beginning I was made of clay. Then I bit the apple and they changed me to metal 🤘

Wow! This is fantastic! Besides Iced Earth's Burnt Offerings I think this might be the best power metal I've heard (at the moment I like it more than Helloween, Blind Guardian, Stratovarius and Wintersun)! Perfect vocals, great heavy riffs; not cheesy, but legitimately beautiful music!
I'll have to listen to more power metal, but those are my impressions at the moment

This is indeed the apex of power metal. I don't listen to many bands like this any more, but only because there are not many albums like this one. It's perfect

Because of your comment, I listened to Epica and The Black Halo again. What a beautiful two-part masterpiece about mortality, sin, and love (based on Goethe's Faust)! This is the perfect power metal for me!

I guess I'm a fan of symphonic power, since I also like some Symphony X albums which are labeled with this genre. Do you have any similar bands to recommend?

I'm quite out of the loop on this genre, honestly. The bands I can recommend are likely just big ones you already know about. Looks like I can leave this in nepalski's capable hands

It does, but it's still one of the genre's peak moments. A real shame they slowed down after this.

Yeah, I think the high concept of these albums really did a lot for their inspiration. However, we'll always have Epica and The Black Halo, and they're going to last for a lifetime.

This is definitely the peak of improvement from the previous albuns and I could finally headbang a bit. My personal highlight though remains those two or three seconds of solo Simone in The Haunting
