It's _okay_. Vocals are at times really beautiful. But it all feels very "flat." Nothing overly exciting or new, especially for these guys. They're sort of starting to get into Soen territory where it feels like they're writing the same album over and over.

Disagree, this is different enough from In Contact, while also just being better than Rise Radiant, that I'm really enjoying what I'm hearing. It's no In Contact for cure, but the beauty and passion are still there. I feel like with Soen, if you moved around their songs between their last 3 albums I would not be able to tell, whereas (aside from the first 2 songs) this is pretty distinctly Charcoal Grace

Hellripper, Dødheimsgard, An Abstract Illusion, Disillusion, Brymir, Gaerea, Allegaeon and Blind Guardian beg to differ. I also wouldn't fret as this album has 27 votes

I feel that they delivered, probably will prefer this album over Rise Radiant in the future. "Charcoal Grace IV: Give Me Hell" hits really hard

You gave it a 10 and feel resentful that not many more people did the same.
Let me tell you why I did not give it a 10. I gave no rating yet, but I doubt it'll be higher than 7. Caligula's Horse is a perfectly mediocre band. the singer is flat and unoffensive, the riffs are good background music, because I can't remember any of them. The impressive musicianship is undoubtedly there, but it never serves a song, it only shows that the musicians are very adept and willing to show off. This is a band that I won't turn off when I hear it, but I will never turn it on of my own volition.

Based on that last sentence giving it a 7 would be really high, don't you think?

There are hundreds of bands that I won't listen to willingly that I would rate with a 7.
Caligula's Horse is not a bad band, it's just I don't really want to listen to them, even though I can appreciate some of their songs.

I respect your opinion on the band. I do not however respect your rating system, it seems a bit skewed towards overrating xD I don't want to argue with a random person about this though, so you do you

Good album but very safe. Also very melodic, almost too melodic. Kinda wished the band took a little more risks with their songwriting, they surely have the talent to do so.
