Stratovarius - Fright Night

This average rating is ridiculous, this album is way better than 6.8. Actually, when I think it through, I kind of really like Tolkki's voice, even though technically it's nowhere near Kotipelto's.

This album is classic, best what band put out, still HM or HPM not EFM as band plays now , solid album, lame production and quality but this is best what bad can offers and I have to admit if band would play such metal it would not have a future so bright as it has now

Honestly, this one of the very good debuts in the history of metal. The music is amazing, neoclassical solos all over and cool epic power metal riffs. The only drawback are Tolkki's sometimes generic vocal melodies. His voice is good but not on a level to make this album remarkable. A 7 for me and if Kotipelto was singing, I would definitely give it an 8.

Sadly Tolkki doesn't sing anymore, IMHO he did it nicely.

My favorite song on this album... IT'S FRIGHT NIIIIIIIGHT!

Good to see they had balls at least for some time.

I respect different opinions but I cannot image how can this be better than "Episode", "Visions" or "infinite". I mean, everything is better on those 3, and even on other later records, but let's just stick to the 3 best or at least highest rated.

I can easily refute such a generic comment by giving you examples like "Legions", "Forever Free" and so forth from the Visions album, "Speed Of Light" "Night Time Eclipse" "Babylon" and so forth from the "Episode" album and almost all the Infinite album with the exception of a few tracks are faster, stronger and definitely less cheesy than anything on Fright Night. Having low cost production doesn't make you grow balls and replicating melodies from famous songs like "I'm Alive" by Helloween on "Future Shock" doesn't make you less cheesy, actually it makes you really cheesy.
Again I am not trying to convince you, but it's hard not to notice the huge improvement in all areas the band did in their later records. I also think you reply really quickly without even taking into consideration what the other argument is.

First albums whit Kopitello was ok, i like against the wind. But now to judge now, i need listen, last time i did all after this was bad to me.

Re-listening the album due to all the recent comments bringing in some nostalgic memories of this album. I must admit that it's pretty good an album, reminds me of early Helloween and that also applies to the vocals, that are pretty... you might have guessed it: they're pretty dogshit on both debut albums. Future Shock, Black Night, Witch-Hunt and Fright Night are good songs if this band ever created such. So yeah, it's pretty strong an album and I don't think I've heard any other album quite like this from a finnish band or even by Stratovarius.

Its well done, for new band from Finland what was not in metal map in those days. Tarot and this band get popularity fast abroad, and I say its well done album, good sound, and good stufdio mix and master, I have heard worst for bigger bands even mighy Manilla Road did not deliver good albums till Crystal Logic.

I don't understand the average rating of this album...The music is great and the vocals too.The style is more heavy power than power metal.Great beginning of this band from Finland I believe..
